Never thought I would find a band with this much passion. Front man Anthony Green is
truly one of a kind. They have steadily gotten bigger with each album, and are now taking
the stage with alice and chains and Janes addiction. I think this band has the potential to be
huge, and their live show is nothing short of mesmerizing. anyone else heard of this band.
here is a video , check it out

    Not one person likes them?

Saw them from the rail in Scranton last night. I enjoyed their set and the energy level is huge from the frontman. Not a big fan of the screaming -- I like to understand the lyrics at a live show. The eye-rolling and finger chewing/eye-gouging schtick is a bit overboard but there's no doubt that a lot of passion goes into the performance. One thing I noticed is he very rarely has the mic in front of his mouth... he'll put it on his throat, or his eye or even his nose while he's singing, which I presume is for some audio effect but it comes across as a bit... odd?

I'm not a hater at all and the energy is palpable. And what an appreciative and fan-friendly band, especially the frontman.

Don't think I'd buy an album at this point (or pay to see them solo) because I don't personally care for the higher-pitched voices but I do appreciate the energy and enthusiasm. I think they'll do well... lead has a ton of charisma and the guitarist is terrific. :)

Yeah i guess you saw them at the festival show ? I thought the same thing first time i saw
them, thought they were kind of odd, but once I started slowly checking out their catalogue
I fell in love with them. I like how you noticed how appreciative they are of their fans.
Lead singer Anthony Green just truly loves what he does. The guitarists are phenomenal.

What did you think of Coheed and cambria after Circa Survive? Also one of my
favorite bands with a ton of energy on stage ?? Both of these bands usually
    tour together.

    Yes -- the Uproar Festival.

I'd never really listened to Coheed before but they put on a great show. Like Circa Survive, they all played with a lot of enthusiasm. Wild hair on the frontman! And he seemed really skilled on the guitar... he played one song with a double neck, 12-string/6-string -- pretty slick. Again, like Circa Survive, the high voice isn't my fave but I like that there's much more singing than screeching with Coheed and Cambria. I did take a video of one of their songs (found out the name of the song afterward, lol!) and my daughter posted it to her youtube account:

I'll see both Circa and Coheed again on Tuesday and I'm sure I'll enjoy them both a little more now that I'm more familiar. Both are excellent bands that are very tight and well rehearsed with energetic frontmen that give their fans their money's worth, for sure. :)

A bit of a tangent, but I'm a big fan of the well placed rock star scream, ala Roger Daltry, Bruce Springsteen, Eddie, etc... but a big non-fan of the smash-mouth scream/growl-the-whole-song thing. Unlike my daughters - lol - who had me take them to see Dillinger Escape Plan last night. Energy? WOW!!! Those guys are like tops that spin nonstop for an hour...

And I actually enjoyed it, non-stop screaming and all... pretty sure the only words I made out during the show were FFFUUUCCCKKK YYYYOOOOUUUUUUUU!!!!! about a thousand times but their sheer power transcended the primal vocals. The guitarist climbed into the ceiling beams at one point and hung upside down like a bat and played! Pretty entertaining stuff!

Yeah glad you liked coheed! They are one of the most talented
Bands skill wise I have ever seen. The lead singer Claudio is one of the
Best guitar players alive. You should see these 2 bands when
They headline club shows, it's crazy energy. Funny thing is, coheed
Is kind of more prog , check out the song in keeping secrets of silent earth.
Amazing. So have u checked out any more circa survive songs. Look up the song
    I'll find a way . Crazy good

Checked out both tunes -- great suggestions! :D
Really looking forward to seeing both again tomorrow...

Almost get a Geddy Lee vibe when hearing Claudio, but Claudio is certainly more talented on the guitar than Geddy is on the bass. Back off, Rush fans!

My daughters and I are already bigger fans based on your suggestions... any more?

Claudio is a beast on guitar! Glad you liked both tunes!
I'll give you a few more from each to check out and
    Tell me what you think:

    Coheed:
Time consumer - guitar is insanely difficult
Delirium trigger - hits you like a punch to the stomach

    Circa survive:
Living together - very high energy and chill at the same time
In fear and faith - great lyrics, catchy, live it is intense

Didn't get a chance to listen to those songs before the show tonight but I really enjoyed both Circa and Coheed's sets again... they're certainly growing on me. Much better crowd tonight in Saratoga than in Scranton as well...

I'm telling you man they are freaking talented. Listen to those tunes and tell me what you think!

How was claudio tonight? did he play the guitar behind his head or did he play it using his teeth any ?

Claudio did both with the guitar!

Met Anthony Green again today and he told my daughters and I that Pearl Jam was going to play Coachella this year. He noticed my PJ shirt and couldn't say enough about them, so that was cool... really nice, down-to-earth guy.

Anthony with my two daughters this afternoon:

He was literally just walking around the grounds at the festival. Every band has a tent at the Uproar fest, too, and most of the bands stay close by to help pitch their merch (with the exception of Coheed, Jane's and AIC). Yesterday he happened to be walking by when the girls and I were listening to AIC's soundcheck. I'm not sure if they're more elusive at a club show, but if you want to meet him and you go to an Uproar Fest date then you'll have no problem finding him. :)

I can definitely see the comparison with the vox, but Geddy Lee is a legendary bass player that stands toe to toe with the most technically proficient rock drummer on a nightly basis and Claudio is a pretty average guitarist by pro standards.

Seen several recommendations for Circa, so I'll check them out. Doesn't bode we'll if there's a lot of screaming as opposed to singing.

I've worked on a paper machine for years so my hearing is pretty shot on bass chords... I know Geddy Lee is a terrific musician, but Claudio's guitar work stood out for me. In hindsight, I shouldn't have made that comment. Hope I didn't offend... :)

no offense, but claudio is a lot better guitar player than him bass player.
His guitar skills is off the charts, just check out youtube
  • The rockstar uproar show will hit Toronto on Tuesday, August 20. I won't go, but I did find out today that circa survive will be unable to play Toronto due to "circumstances beyond their control".

Sorry dude, but it's not even close. I've listened to enough Coheed to know that Claudio isn't half as skilled at his instrument as Geddy Lee. Not taking anything away from him, Geddy Lee is just that good.

    Heres my proof, Debate over:

Especailly at the 1 minute mark and the 2 minute mark. Behind his head and
then playing with his teeth. Not many people can do this
  • They lost me after the first line...I will stick with AIC, Jane's, and Walking Papers at UPROAR. CS and C&C don't do it for me. Thanks for posting though...will help me weed out the bands I don't 'feel.'

Apologies, I thought I was debating with somebody that knew something about guitar playing.

First off, he's not playing with his teeth, he's shouting into his pickups.

Secondly, behind the head playing and playing with your teeth show very little in the way of actual skill. It's something that gets the crowd to go "oooohh and aaaaaah", but most of the time what is actually being played is not impressive on it's own and that's the case here.

Claudio doesn't suck by any means, but to say he compares to Geddy Lee as a musician is laughable at best.
  • Anyone going to uproar should check out Beware of Darkness.
