Thoughts on Sitting Behind the Stage?

Anyone had the opportunity to sit behind the stage at a PJ show? How was it?

I'm considering it for the Fall tour at one venue, as it looks like that will be the seating arrangement for the arena. But I wanted to get some thoughts and impressions before I did so. It's probably the difference between sitting in the nosebleed 300 Section, or behind the stage.

Thanks!

I am giving behind the stage a try myself at the Dallas show. I honestly think the first few rows of ANY 300 level is better than being farther back on the lower level because you are usually back underneath the 300's anyway and actually end up with a worse view...especially at these indoor arenas with their steep seating the front rows of the uppers are actually pretty decent seats IMO.

I did it once for my first PJ show back in 2003. It sucks. If you don't mind staring at the back of their heads all night, then go for it. But if there's a similarly priced ticket in the nosebleeds on the other side of the arena, I'd go with that.

I sat behind the stage in London last month and it was great, but that's a really small venue and we were RIIIIGHT behind the stage. A bigger venue from a different vantage point might have been much worse.

But still better than not being in the building at all!

I have section 1 in Brooklyn - right behind the stage. I like that I will be so close but not thrilled about looking at their backs the whole time. What can I expect for sound quality? Will it sound weird since all the speakers project out from the stage?
  • It's like marrying the first girl youre with. Nothing wrong with it, but let's all be honest, most of the time it's settling, and you'll spend the entire time convincing yourself it's cool.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

Been behind the stage a bunch of times, most notably MSG2 2003 right behind the drums...Prob the best show I've been to.

#1) 'Sat behind the stage in the 200 level for MSG #2 2010 via TM tickets - I had a great time.

#2) 'Sat in the second row in the corner right above where the band members came onto the stage and had a great view of the guitar techs in the pit for MSG #1 2010 via TM tickets .... probably the best seats I've had for a show.

Behind the stage is just fine. It's all about the music. With that being said, there was a picture in a Wrigley thread prior to the show of a photo taken from an upper deck along the third baseline during a concert - it was a long way to the stage - a little too far in my opinion.
