In a move some claim is tantamount to social engineering, the Department of Housing and Urban Development is imposing a new rule that would allow the feds to track diversity in America’s neighborhoods and then push policies to change those it deems discriminatory.

Here's a link to sort of balance out the fox news link:

When the free market is discriminatory, can we call that social engineering, too?

Make no mistake: this is a big deal. With the HUD budget alone, we are talking about billions of dollars. And as you know, decades ago, these funds were used to support discrimination. Now, they will be used to expand opportunity and bring communities closer to the American Dream.

All that data is designed to make it possible for local communities to recognize obstacles and opportunities to fair housing in the planning process, while also arming families with the information to find the best places to live. But for some reason, the idea of the federal government mapping neighborhood diversity has been received by hysterical critics as something quite different: a renewed ploy for "forced racial integration," for "tyranny," for "social engineering coming to communities everywhere."

this is already sounding uneven,so in a country that gives us the opertunity to work and achieve what ever we work for is now going to give non-whites an advantage with $billions from Hud thanks to the naacp ?...I see problems with this right off the bat.

That sounds a bit racist. lol

I see nothing wrong with it. It is sad that there are neighborhoods such as "white neighborhoods" and "black neighborhoods." There are many areas in cities that are so segregated. Let different races live among each other if they can afford it. It sucks it will cost billions of dollars, that's the only problem I see.

You can spend your time alone, redigesting past regrets, oh
or you can come to terms and realize
you're the only one who can't forgive yourself, oh
makes much more sense to live in the present tense

this is my point also,my neighborhood is very dirverse and no problem there but to give money to someone money based on their skin color just so they can move into a "nicer hood" is wrong, home forclosers will sky rocket in those areas.

  • I'm a liberal but we need to stop giving away money for things that aren't necessary right now. Maybe in 10 years when the economy has it's natural upswing we can throw some money at what I consider luxary problems. We need to live within our means for awhile so we as a Nation can get ahead.

To me the biggest waste is miliarty which is where my Leftiness comes in. :D

ETA: Not advocating getting rid of the Miliarty or even completely overhauling it, but they WASTE the most money by far.

It's been awhile, Blockhead. Feel free to eloborate on why you find it funny. Would it be different for you if I changed it to "individuals within the free market"?

Anyone who wants integrated housing has never lived in integrated housing. Rented integrated housing is one thing; but when you actually own the home you'll understand. Nothing but nightmares.

What the issue in the OP is about is providing information and access to the information, despite what the title suggests. (Although playing to the fox news audience is pretty obvious) People can read it for themselves here if you don't want it filtered:
