I would love one of my fellow elder statesman Brother or sisters to recall an experience seeing the band at a local bar/club in the Nw in the late 80s early 90s.Whether it was As Mookie,Mother Love Bone or one of the first few shows after Ed came up and they had not hit it big yet.Not much talk about what the local scene was really like .So...anyone there for the start of it ?
I moved from Fl to Portland in 91-92 for a few months and remember the energy of the local bar, brew pub music scene it was electric.Never saw PJ at a local hang out ,wish I had known then what we all know now and a road trip up I-5 to Jet city woulda been a must.

I wasn't at any of the shows but have gotten my hands on several early bootlegs from this time period and you can hear some chatter by the person holding the recording device and from what I can make out from that and the sound of the band...sounded like a pretty amazing experience. You can almost feel that they knew they were witnessing what would become rock n roll history. Another observation is that Eddie was already bantering comedically between songs. Seems to me that all shows since then, to the band anyway, were the same but to a much bigger audience. And they've always played like it could be the last show and that it was someone in the crowd's first show. Just one of the many things about this band that make it the best band of all time.
    Just my opinion.

I was a late bloomer to concerts, not seeing PJ until they came to my alma mater Michigan State University in 1998...but I feel I was there in the beginning, as I started college in the Fall of 1991 when the grunge scene started exploding.

I recall my transition from a rap fan to a rock fan was fast and furious after listening to Nevermind for the first time on a road trip to the University of Michigan in the Fall of 1991.

Unfortunately I wasn't exposed to Ten until the Summer of 1992, when I first listened to it in it's entirety.

Man, what I wouldn't give to be able to go back in time and hit all those early Detroit, Ann Arbor and Clarkston shows I SHOULD have attended!

Anyways...I may not have been there from the true beginning, but I feel like I was pretty damn close, and I started making up for lost time hardcore in 1998.

Never saw them until lolla '92 and I think that was right around my 15th. According to the concert tracker they played around here twice but they were play bars. I don't think I'd heard of them or was let alone old enough to catch them.. would of been cool though.

I use to babysit Stone, Jeff grinded my rail at my apartment once, I was at Eddies birth, Mike McCready rules...

    Some of that is true.
