If you haven't seen Ben Harper solo acoustic, do yourselves a favour and get tix to the show nearest to you. I saw him acoustic at Carnegie Hall last year. Amazing. Similar feel to the Ed and Chris Cornell solo shows (not the same, obviously).

I don't normally post presale codes but it was all over Facebook and on his site so I figured why not spread the love to some PJ fans!
I've seen him solo, with the Relentless 7 and with Charlie Musselwhite. I have to say of all of those I enjoyed his solo show the best so you're all in for a real treat.

Saw the tour opener in Claremont and it was great. Took him a little while to get into a rhythm because with it being a hometown show, Ben would play a song and then tell a story about growing up in Claremont. Then he'd play another song and have another story to tie in. It ended up being really good though. He played a few new songs with his mom which was really special. I was blown away by a couple songs he did, especially this slow, brooding take on "Excuse Me Mr." and a couple of really great covers (Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You" on piano and Cohen's "Hallelujah").
Don't recall the exact time he started, but the show was scheduled to start at 8 and I believe he started about 8:15-8:20.

Thanks! I caught the show on Tuesday and it was great. Ben is a phenomenal talent.
I gotta say....
Ben is one of the more talented musicians I have ever seen. That said, his set needs a lot of work.
His set started really slow. It built a little only to be completely deflated by his songs with Charlie Musselwhite (IMO). Maybe I'm just not a big enough Ben fan to appreciate his down tempo show. I would imagine that he will only get better (a la Eddie).
