Just a reminder to some Pearl Jam fans to stop acting old and enjoy the band the way you did 20 years ago. They don't owe you shit. That's why we fell in love with them in the first place. Here's a make up show they did in 1995 where no one gave a crap about ten club privileges or GA ticketing. It was about sharing the experience that I'm still talking about today.

Just a reminder to some new Pearl Jam fans to stop butting in and just enjoy the band. They don't owe you shit. That's why us geezers fell in love with the band in the first place: you young punks weren't around. I won't even link to an awesome youtube video because you whipper snappers and your Googling skills can find whatever the heck it is you are looking for way faster than I ever could. Find it yourself. It's always been about sharing the experience, but some of us have been spoiled by the band for a very long time and have been in the trenches long enough that it's ok for some of us to be a little disappointed with recent developments.

Personally... I think this Young vs. Old thing is unproductive and serves no purpose. Age has nothing to do with someone's love for a band. It all has to do where you are, in this moment... at this Here and in this Now.
The young people that think us older fans have lost touch... all I have to say is, "I'm sorry... you just shoulda been there. Because it really kicked some ass."
We cannot help it if you were born too late and we know you can't help it either. It is just a circumstance of birth and life. Just as we can't help it if we were there, as adults and understood the impact of the music of bands like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains in the state America was in and how it all fit together in 1995. We were actually at those shows in 1995 and thanx to us, some of us recorded it for you to see in 2013. Don't blame us for not being like you... because the simple fact is... we are not you.
Now, I really don't care what you perceive to be 'proper behaviour'. You do what you do and I'll do what I'll do. I've been at this 'going to concerts' thing since 1971 and I think I've gotten pretty good at it. So, although I'll respect your suggestions on how I am supposed to appear, through your eyes... I'll respectfully take a pass on it because i sort of like the view from this side of my skin.

That's exactly what I was thinking, who is anyone to say that I'm not thoroughly enjoying a show because I'm not flopping around like a fish out of water. Trust me, I know how to enjoy a concert, I've had plenty of experience.

yes, I like this post, too! someday, when the young ones are "old" (what the hell is old anyway?) they will be no different, with awesome show experiences on their memories, no matter how they or we decide to enjoy them :)

I've seen a real change in demographics for the fans lately with the implementation of the lottery for GA seats, allowing a LOT of new young fans to jump on board. I'm not saying that us older fans are any better, (because there are lot of us bitching as well), but this post above HAS to be noted for the new fans coming aboard, feeling entitled as much as the older fans are.

    I agree with you, sir.
I think that instead of us waging a Generational War on each other, we should focus more on the things that bond us together, then those things that tear us apart. I mean, no generation is better or worse than another. I mean, the generation I'm from are people like John Doe and X, Steve Jones and the Sex Pistols, Mike Watt, Pat Smear, The Go-Gos, Van Halen, Black Flag and the likes. But, my generation also brought us Kenny G, Madonna, Dolphin shorts and Latoya Jackson. The same goes for every other generation prior to and since my generation. Each generation has its good stuff and its crappy stuff. That's just the way it is and the way it will always be.
Instead of bitching about what you have, I should have or what i have, i've earned and it's mine... how about we just decide to share? That we stop insisting that we know what is best for everyone else and just let everyone decide how best to enjoy ourselves. If someone isn't 'going apeshit'... it doesn't mean they aren't enjoying the show... it may just mean they are not an ape... that is taking a shit... that's all.
I'm not saying we all group hug bullshit and all be the same... y'all can keep your tight skinny jeans and Axe Body spray and we'll keep our Doc Martens and Dickies and just accept the fact that we see the world differently. But, we all agree that Pearl Jam still kicks ass. And really... isn't that all that really matters here?

The whole subculture of "reminding" people that the band doesn't owe anyone anything or the utter over-use of the word entitlement.... Im just curious, do people that write that crap really believe it? Like when folks are reading threads where someone is expressing disappointment with how something went, is the first thought really that the disappointed individual feels they are owed something? I mean really, beyond that whole superficial "going for cred" thing where it sounds cool (lol no) to say others are entitled or whatever. Is expressing disappointment synonymous with being spoiled such that only the spoiled and entitled among us have been bestowed the privilege of being disappointed?

Sorry OP I don't mean to derail nor direct this to you personally as there have been far more venomous entitlement attacks. It's just that you can't read the first page of the forum without a thread or two on this topic anymore and they are almost as unproductive as my post here
