Harry Chapin. I was eight years old. And as Ed said, it was the first time I ever smelled... something I've smelled a number of times since then.

Oh, c'mon. Howard Jones had some great pop tunes. But -- Animotion? Was that the "Obsession" song?

For what it was...it was pretty cool. I remember they had this light thing shaped like a hand that Michael danced under.pretty advanced for he day so it was a cool experience. Went with a friend and his mother. We were the shit back then cause we went. Now it's almost like a dark secret to keep locked in my closet.

When I was 8 years old, summer of '92, my 19 year old sister wanted to take me to a concert, and gave me the choice between Van Halen or Def Leopard. I chose Def Leopard because Ugly Kid Joe was opening and I loved Cat's In the Cradle and I Hate Everything About You (great song still). Man do I regret that choice; Van Halen would have been so much better!

I saw Def Leppard/UKJ on that tour when they came to Alpine Valley. I saw VH that year, also. You're right about them being the better show!

My mom took my sisters and me to my first concert, it was The Bangles in 1986 at Summerfest in Milwaukee. After the show, we got to see Dana Carvey do stand up on some tiny little stage. He was hilarious. This was at the height of his SNL career. Lots of Church Lady bits.

My first real rock show was Pantera, Megadeth, and Skid Row at Alpine Valley in '92. \m/

First PJ show was Summerfest 95, the same venue as the Bangles show! LOL

I was at this show, too(small world) Candlebox was awful. Pretty sure they were all drunk. The Flaming Lips played, too, that night.

It was at The Public Auditorium. Kind of an interesting read on wikipedia about that tour. Looks like you saw the early part before he scrapped the Diamond Dogs set. Great album. My favorite from Bowie.
