Vs. original pressing

A friend of mine was cleaning his old stuff out of his parents' house recently with his wife and stumbled upon a Vs. LP. He doesn't really listen to PJ these days so they brought it over tonight to give to me. Turns out to be the original pressing. Says "pearl jam" only on the spine and "vs." appears not once. Z 53136 is also on the spine. Some small marks/stains on the cover and bends and such elsewhere but sounds great! My friend says he remembers buying it and thinking he shouldn't open it because he didn't even have a record player but just loved them so much that he needed to open it and take a look, haha.

To sum it up, this made my night, probably my week, and even beyond.

Sounds excellent! Congrats! Which cover is it? Do you have a photo?

Nah, no pic right now but it's the one where the sheep has it's head turned to the left, not poking it's face through the fence.

    ;)

'DZ 53136 is the original vinyl release. Was released on October 12, 1993, one week before the CD version. Spine says only "pearl jam" and "vs." is not printed anywhere on the cover and on the labels, as the album title was not settled.'

    Awesome.

Showing my age but I can throw on Vs and it takes me back to high school immediately. Fantastic (PJ, not necessarily high school).

You're not the only one. Skipped school the day it was released to drive to the store to pick it up. Listened to it tonight and it took me back. :D

I was 11 when it came out, and I stayed up every night to record whatever new songs the local rock station was playing leading upto the release. Such great memories of truly falling in love with music.

Just added the (cd) album to my playlist in honor if the dedication it took to never open that record for all these years.

I was only 11 in 1993. I vividly remember asking my grandmother to buy me vs on cd, not cassette.

I did not have a CD player at the time. Only a tape player.

This is the way I got a CD player for Christmas. I begged my mom - I can't play the one album I want to hear most!!

It was hell for me waiting from around thanksgiving time until Christmas just to be able to play it.. Oh and boy Did i play the holy hell out of that cd...

So for me barley able to wait a little over a month, I give you props for never opening the vinyl :)

    DON'T DO IT!

Get a cheaper remastered vinyl somewhere else and spin that! Same album but you save the original pressing!!

I have one of these, too, but it has been opened and played. The funny thing is that it was purchased at Newbury Comics about seven or eight years after the record came out, but it's the original pressing. It sat in inventory for all that time.

  • I know this is an old post but in honor of 30 years, thought I’d share vinyl wall.

Just finished my basement and was able to hang my framed records. All originals.
