Does anyone have like a definitive bootleg history of this show? How many different releases outside of the one given out by my hometown Vintage Vinyl back in the day?

I don't think there are actually that many sources. Sometimes it feels like all the sources are the same. The vintage vinyl cd/vinyl promo's sound just like the unofficial bootlegs. Quiet and tinny. The only other ones are fan projects (like the soundboard remastered series) where someone tried to make it sound better by combining the FM source with an audience source.

Previously I kind of thought it would be silly for them to do a vault of this show as it's so widely circulated, but the sound quality isn't very good, so maybe it deserves an official release.

Can you imagine that show with some decent bass on it? Whoa...

  • So, we finally have an official Vault release of this show, and unless I'm mistaken, there are 7 songs missing. No Black, Blood, RVM, covers, or (and this might be the biggest disappointment) Better Man with Brenden O'Brien on keys. What gives? Anyone know why the "longest PJ show ever" at the time was officially released minus these crucial encores?  They've released 3 disc boots before. Why not here? Is there anyone who can upload a great quality version of the missing tracks? The "Better Man" I have sounds like an FM broadcast with a terrible static fuzz at 45 seconds and then again at 1:10, and as all are aware, that low-fi treble sound with virtually no bass. I swear I once heard a pure soundboard cut out there somewhere before that didn't sound like an FM broadcast recorded by a listener, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed I can "complete" this Vault release the way it should be. Any help or insights from you all are much appreciated! Thanks!

Those were all digital downloads included with the vinyl. The reason given was the sound recorded wasnt multi-tracked or something. But still sounded better than the old boots.
I didn't realize the downloads didn't come with the other versions, I only got the vinyl so far.
    Digital download with vinyl was:
    Everyday People
    Let My Love...
    Betterman
    RVM
    Black
    Blood
    YL
  • I had ordered the CD and didn't see the fine print. Just found the digital files in my order history - hidden in "View Details." Just listened, and they sound like the FM Broadcast, but as you said, still better than the old boots. Bit more bass, sound amplified, best attempt to improve. We'll take it. Thanks!

So if you order a digital copy of vault #7, you don't get those tracks?

I got the complete show when I bought it through nugs directly, not sure about those that went the 10c store route, lol.
  • Just curious on the Vault CD's aside from missing the encore is the stage banter edited out?

Only the record set is edited there.

Where I have listened banter is in, that is one of the best parts of the show, Ed was in rare form that night
