    Always a good plan!
I would never travel for a PJ show without padding the trip with a day before and a day after, because you just never know what might come up!

    My motto as well :)

I always always fly the day before a show. I'll be dammed I'm stuck in an airport while a show I have tickets for is happening.

That's my rule. Always arrive one day early if possible.

I do too. Adding events & places to see in Seattle in my traveling book. My Saturday & Sunday nights are still wide open. It would be so sweet for a PJ show on any of those nights, wouldn't you say? :)

  • We are traveling from Detroit area. A second show would be cool, but if not we are going to use that ticket money to rent a car and see Mt. Rainier.. and when I look at photos of that area, I am kind of hoping no second show is added :D:D
PJ gives us a great chance to see this beautiful country as well :D

  • If we do not get an announcement today or tomorrow, It is my belief we are done and have to settle for one show
    or not make the trip.

Its a shame ... I just ducked into the Tour page to see that only half the East coast tour is sold out ... and only Seattle of the West coast ... I cant believe it!!! :(

Surprises me too. The population on the West coast is alot smaller though (especially for the Canadian dates) with way less cities surrounding the dates they play.

I am attending the 1st Seattle show, so I plan on sleeping in the next morning and heading home on Sunday. I figure if they add a 2nd show on 12/7, great. I will try my best to get tickets. If they do a 2nd Seattle show, I think they should close out the US tour with an all acoustic show at a smaller venue. I think that would be a really special way to wind down the tour.

I honestly don't understand the people that complain about any performance. I could be happy to hear any song the band sings. :corn:

I think a smaller venue show to close out the tour would cause a lot of backlash. They didn't have enough seats to fill the demand for an arena show let alone something of theater size.

On the flip side (which shows my gluttonous side) I completely banked on two shows. I just missed passing my CFA Level 1 in June. I can rewrite in December or June. PJ doesn't tour that often so I was willing to put it off for 6 months to see a few shows. I gambled on two. My procrastination is a harder pill to swallow if it's only for 1 show behind the stage (might have opted for calgary/spokane instead) or attempted my CFA that weekend. I guess gambling doesn't pay off all the time. It had been so long since PJ hadn't done back to backs in Seattle (and the person who leaked the dates was bang on with the night 1 date, and had posted a 2nd show the night after).

I wonder what the reason behind not doing a 2nd Seattle show would be? Was Eddie pretty disappointed by the crowd in 2009 that they don't want to do a 2nd show? I'd rather the band see it as a challenge to bring it even harder in 2013 rather than back down and scale it back?

Not sure why no 2nd show. They know a 2nd Seattle will sell out. But they have 3 cities so far with 2 shows that did not sell out, and 4 of those shows being in areas that historically sell out very fast.

I think the 2009 shows suffered more from no one knowing the new album. I have a feeling the first 3-4 shows this fall will also be hurt by that.

It's not as bad as it looks. It's mostly just because of a few singles that are still available. The shows will be full come show time.... unless the scalpers overbought and end up taking a loss and leaving seats empty.

Good luck with your CFA exam. Let me throw my 2cents in... take the CFA exam the sooner you can, as the information you've studied so hard will remain fresher and you will no doubt score higher than if you wait. Things have a way of working themselves out and you need to put your goals first. :D

I still think there will be two shows. Call it my spidey sense ;) or maybe just wishful thinking, but I think there is still the possibility. :corn:

Anything is possible. And when you have no expectations, its all good.

There was that. The band rehashed some of the encore stuff on the 2nd night (ie the Just Breathe/The End segment, and covering the Real Me). I thought night 2 was pretty solid but it lost me a bit in the encore. I think Seattle crowds are bit of a beast. The shows aren't just Seattlites. PJ fans come from everywhere to see PJ in their hometown. PJ's Mecca. If you're diehard enough to do that you've probably seen the band play a number of times already. It generally means the crowd knows when you've gone the extra mile and when you haven't. The best Seattle shows I've seen (specifically Seattle II '00 and Gorge '05) the band obviously went the extra mile and the crowd responded in kind.

Last year I saw Springsteen play in Vancouver and it was awesome. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Then I went onto the message board and the diehards picked it apart. Mostly because they'd seen the band play 20 or 30 times before and they are looking for the band to play things they never get to see. They want to see something new. I understood the argument because I think it's how I feel about PJ.

Now imagine an entire arena full of people like that. How hard would that be to play too. Can you get away with playing an average length set (just over 2 hours), repeating encore songs, and staying light on the rarities? I think Seattle shows have a higher bar because of who's in attendance (and arena full of people that have seen you play over and over again).

It's quite the challenge really, but I would hope the band wouldn't back away from it.

Yah it's almost too late now and I really needed a break from studying. I think I studied for 7 months (about an hour/day) before my first attempt. They only offer the June exams in the city i live in, so my other argument against doing it in December was that I had to travel. I suppose if there's no 2nd show I could write in Seattle.. probably a bad idea :)
