The Replacements are great, love 'em to death. Give a listen to Tim and Let it Be. Also "The Shit Hits the Fans" Great live show.
I've been fortunate enough to see Pearl Jam live.

I am hanging in the balance of a perfect finished plan

I've posted on the Westerberg "Man Without Ties" years and over a long period of time have felt compelled to step up to the plate to defend that album over and over again. It's the one that gets ripped the most often even by some of the most hard-core Westerberg/'Mats fans. The usual complaints are, "It's over-produced", "This album is a sell out", "DTAS is not a true Replacements album" etc. Bah! I love all the 'Mats albums for different reasons and I love this one. "Talent show" is so cool. "We'll inherit the Earth" is awesome. "Rock 'n' Roll Ghost" and "Darlin' One" rips my guts and tears me up every time.

Thanks for recognizing this one, smarchee.

yeah there is not a song I dislike on this album. Always loved I'll Be You, but there is 4-5 awesome songs on this album.

Anywhere Is Better Than Here is still in my head

What album of their should I digest next?

If I had to name a favorite I'd say "Let it Be" (which, besides being an awesome record has a great cover photo*) followed very close by "Tim". Both are outstanding! Interestingly, "Pleased to Meet Me" seems to be a favorite on the Man Without Ties site. It has some excellent songs but as a whole just never reached the peak that "Let it Be" and "Tim" do for me.

Westerberg has some good solo stuff too. Mono/Stereo, Suicaine Gratification, Come Feel Me Tremble. Keep these in mind after you give Tim/Let it Be/Pleased to Meet Me a listen.

So true! All three of those are excellent CD's. The one time I met P.W. my wife and I told him that "our song" is Born For Me and he signed our Suicaine CD: "Born for Me, Paul Westerberg" ... and then proceeded to close the cardboard case and smear the Sharpy ink. Somehow that seems appropriate.

That is an amazing story! Paul is such a cool guy. I was just giving a listen to his solo stuff. I forget if it was Folker or Come Feel Me Tremble where he plays a cover of Jackson Browne's "These Days." Man my heart breaks when he sings, "Please don't confront me with my failures, I have not forgotten them."
