2013 setlists predictions and hopes

predictions:

- except for Unthought Known and an occaisional Just Breathe, the Backspacer songs will fall off the face of the earth

- more Oceans and Brother appearances. less Jeremy, Once, Why Go, Deep and Garden appearances.

- the (as of late) less frequent Vitalogy tunes show up more (Last Exit, Tremor Christ, Whipping and Satan's Bed)

- Love Boat Captain makes a comeback (about 5 or 6 times)

- more Parachutes (unless a lot of the Lightning Bolt songs are slower)

hopes:

- return of the Binaural songs. way too little NAIS, Greivance and Light Years over the last several US tours.

- longer average total # of songs per show. I just don't see how they will cram in the new material, the classics, the live staples, a cover or 2, and a few rarity bombs in ~26 songs every night. I'm hoping the average creeps up to 30. what would be cool is instead of 16+5+5, they do 2 "main" sets and do it more like 10+10+5+5

- I almost hate to say it, but less SOLAT. it just feels so tired. and I can't stand it when Ed sings "from both sides of the bed" every time, instead of "for the voice inside my head".

- at least one version of U!

- no Ole. please....please no Ole.

- Strangest Tribe...(is that a hope or a wild dream?)

I'm hoping for a rocking set in Hartford and another OTOTO.

Also, I hope they retire CD/COD. Maybe play it at PJ25

I disagree. I think Got Some and The Fixer will still be played regularly.

My predictions: very unpredictable sets. Just look at the two shows from last week. Nothing Man as second song? Brain of J in second encore?

Different opening songs- Alive, Nothing As it Seems, Jeremy, Breakerfall (all done before but not for a while)

Even more energy from the band as they love the GA setup

And those are my hopes too :D

  • Maybe give Even Flow a rest?

Must be hard doing a setlist as spending 10 mins on here proves we all love different PJ songs from different albums.
Happy up here in my tree

I pretty much agree with everything that's been said already here. And yes to Lloyd - retire CD/COT for a while.

Definitely some more unpredictable set lists. Not only with the Wrigley and London shows, but they changed things up quite a bit with the earlier SA shows (Even Flow very early in the set which works much better IMO, Animal in the encore, just changing some songs around from where they normally play it).

I'd definitely like to see All Or None get some more love. Nothing over the top, but selected for a few random shows and would be perfect in an encore.

And most, I would love to see Hard To Imagine get some love this tour. Again, nothing over the top and still keep it a rarity and more special, but I would like to see it played at least once on each leg of the tour (either Seattle, Dallas, or OKC please  ).

With the exception of The Fixer, Unthought Known, Got Some, Just Breathe, and Amongst The Waves here and there - I think a lot of the Backspacer material will start becoming rarities.

Definitely some more Breakerfall, Whipping, Dissident, Tremor Christ, Sleight Of Hand, NAIS, Red Mosquito, Who You Are, and LBC should be thrown in there.

And for the love of God, please bust out Around The Bend every once in a while when they play some acoustic stuff and play Strangest Tribe and Angel once on this tour!

Same here man. It constantly rivals Release as my favorite PJ song and I will absolutely lose my shit if and when I ever hear it live!

How about Thumbing My Way!!! One of my absolute favorites I have yet to hear live. In Philly or Phoenix would be great for me.

    Deep
    Don't Gimme No Lip
    Fatal
    1/2 Full
    Parachutes
Anything that lets Matts sing lead!

    Hopes:

Oceans (would complete Ten for me)
    Long Road
    Wash
    Big Wave
Marker in the Sand (This and Big Wave would complete Avocado for me)
    Red Mosquito
Around The Bend (This and Red Mosquito would complete No Code for me. A guy can dream right? )

Also, any Binaural or Riot Act songs they want to play so I can cross them off the list as well. I've seen very few of both of those albums.
