Is it seen or heard??
I have noticed many times people often ask, Have you seen Release live? or How many times have you seen Hard to Imagine? how can you see a song?? you can hear a song? but then again it is live and you can see the band....
What do you think? Seen or heard??

I would argue on the side of seen. You can hear a song on a live bootleg, or cd, and especially at a show. But if you see them play it, then it is most definitely seen.0

The naked eye doesn't see sound! You can however see them perform it. Would you ask a blind person if they've seen it live?Post edited by Shorty onYour Disciples Are Riddled With Metaphors.

You see with your eyes you hear with your ears. When your at a show live, you're using BOTH senses so BOTH answers are accpetable in my opinion!BOS 9/28/04, 9/29/04

interesting question.
I'd like to defer to my favorite comedian:
"I was walking down the street with my friend and he said, "I hear music", as if there is any other way you can take it in. You're not special, that's how I receive it too. I tried to taste it but it did not work."

There is no better feeling that SEEING music being played live. Listening to it on a ghetto blaster or headphones does not compare.
Example...I saw PJ in Cleveland in 1994. I had listened to the studio version and several live versions of Release. But when they started the song, I FELT THE SONG! I felt Jeff's bass line in my chest. I felt Dave's kick drum in my legs and most importantly, I felt the absolute power of Pearl Jam's music in my heart. It was and still is an overwhelming feeling. I still remember it like it happened 15 minutes ago..every detail.
Seeing music far exceeds just listening to it.1994 - Cleveland, 1998 - Cleveland, 2000 - Columbus, 2003 - Cleveland/Columbus, 2006 - Cleveland, 2009 - Philly 1, 2010 - Columbus/Cleveland, 2013 - Pittsburgh/Buffalo, 2014 - Cincy/Detroit, 2016-Lexington/Wrigley #1, 2018- Fenway 1, 2022-Nashville, 2024-Seattle1/Noblesville/Baltimore0 -

Seeing music far exceeds just listening to it.
Seeing a performace far exceeds just listening to it - I completely agree - but in the end, when you break it down - you saw a performace - felt the power and emotion of the instruments - and heard the song.
When you are able to see music - I got $50 bucks for whatever it is you took - I want to bring it to Buffalo with me.Your Disciples Are Riddled With Metaphors.

You're watching a band at a concert, so seeing the song performed live is a completely valid description. You don't watch TV and say you heard the episode.0
