just listening to this and towards the end Ed says that it had been suggested to them no to play there.. and that they wanted to clarify that them playing there did not mean they "support this crap"..

What is this about?!

    I don't know the boot, but I assume he's talking about the Austrian elections that happened at that time. A very right-wing party, the FPÖ, became the second strongest political force in Austria, and they were part of the government. The EU issued sanctions, and a lot of bands refused to play Austria during that time, or were very vocal about their disgust for Haider (the party leader) and his frequent fascist references.

    thanks! That was basically what I assumed after a bit of research.. Ed seemed tense during the whole show, hardly speaking to the crowd until very late.. Insignificance is the best version I've heard

    I need to listen to this sometime soon! I remember seeing their Rock Am Ring performance on TV that year, but was completely oblivious they were playing relatively close to me too.
