my advice...enjoy the day!!! have fun, grab some beers, listen to some music in some local bars and enjoy the scene. is being 10 feet closer to the band worth wasting a day over?
Great post man. This is why I chose Reserved; especially since the shows were on a weekend I won. Who wants to waste a nice fall Saturday waiting in line and fighting a sweaty crowd, when I can be drinking in a bar, having a great time mingling? Not to mention my reserved seats are still going to be good. Why do people have this intense need to see Ed's nose hair?
I've been 6th row, 8th row, 11th row on the floor....but have enjoyed shows every bit as much, if not more in the wings.
Everything I know about this I learned from the Woodstock documentary
1.) Park your car whenever you don't feel like driving anymore
2.) Walk to the line, or the fence, or whatever you think is the line.
3.) Bathe in the nearest pond near the venue. You may also want to do some yoga
4.) Smoke as much as you can, you'll pretty much float to the spot in the pit where you belong
5.) Lastly, DO NOT eat the brown acid.
Is it me, or does so many posts make one think that a large amount of fans with GA tix have never been to a concert before with these ridiculous questions?
We're not all cool......
this is what i don't get...
every GA show i've ever been to, if I wanted to get to the rail during a show, i did at some point... a lot shifting and bouncing around happens in a tightly packed pit... no matter what time I showed up, I managed to get as close as I've liked.
every time I read posts here about "the line" or "the list" it sounds like you all expect to get a space and then have everyone stand completely still around you, and no one shift spaces, and respect your space.
this is a rock concert, with a GA pit. If you wanted a reserved space - you should have put in for a reserved seat.
now all that being said, I don't normally make my way to the front anymore... just don't like to deal with the heat and the sweaty bodies... normally i either show up and settle in in front of the soundboard (best sound) or get inside the cone of the stage speakers and settle in someone with a good view for my 5'10" frame.
but this idea of "self policing" areas really turns my guts. everyone needs to chill the fuck out and let it happen. Being self rightous about it and saying it's for the good of everyone is bullshit - you're all only doing it for the good of yourselves, and to protect what you feel you've "earned".
Personally, it sounds a little greedy to me.... you want to have your cake and eat it to. You want the best spots in the arena, and you want to freedom to eat, go to the bathroom, go buy merch, etc, as you please.... it's bull.
everyone needs to relax this idea of the "the line" and "the list" and just let shit happen. you gotta go take a piss? ok, your turn at the rail is up - give someone else a turn. You want merch? cool, I like merch too... just don't but your way all the way back to the front and say "i was here, these guys can vouch for me, let me in"....
I'm sure this debate will continue all the way up to shows.... but for me, I hope this "line and list" bullshit stopped by venue security long before it ever starts.... it's just encouraging people to waste their time standing outside the venue all day to feel "entitled" to hold on to the rail all night....
either way, you won't find me in the line - i'll get plenty close I gaurentee it - and I'll have a great time too.
my advice...enjoy the day!!! have fun, grab some beers, listen to some music in some local bars and enjoy the scene. is being 10 feet closer to the band worth wasting a day over?
Cheers to that! He'll no is it worth it! Half the fun is the pre-game festivities...standing in line for hours is silly in my opinion. Of course, if u cant enjoy some drinks/smokes in a bar, hotel, house or parking lot then u may as well stand in line and shoot the shit with fellow 10 Club members.

I'm not saying this to start an argument by any means, I just thought I might put out another idea that seems to be misunderstood or not thought of at all.
Some say "why wait all day in line just to be a bit closer?"
It's simple really: because we're obsessed. Speaking for myself and others that plan on doing this, I intend to be right on the rail because this is my favorite band in the world and to experience one of their concerts within 15 feet of them.. well enough said. That's not to mention the possibility of shaking eds hand.
So for me and other fanatics like me it's totally worth it to wait all day to be as close as we can be.
The other thing I see people saying is "it's a pit man, people move around, you're not entitled to any spot".
Now while I completely agree that if you wanted a reserved spot you should've chose seats, I disagree that if you wait forever to be in front you're not entitled to it. I'm not referring to "the list" or whatever (cuz frankly it sounds like BS), but moreover the people that sit in line All Damn Day just to be up front to see our fav band. I'd like to think that that kind of dedication will earn one a great spot.
Sadly some jerks (usually big drunk college kids) think "I'm big and can push my way through, thus I deserve the front". That's when the Real cool 10c peeps say "no no, not here".
Basically, all I'm trying to say is I feel so lucky to be able to see pj GA and I intend to be right up front with all the other die-hards, and I hope the others that maybe can't understand out crazy love will not try and barge their way to the front, but rather enjoy the show from the spot they "earned".

See y'all in buffalo.
Thank you. This is kind of what I was getting at, just beating around the bush with my line of questioning. This list shit sounds waaaay too stressful. I'm calling shenanigans. But I guarantee I'll be close enough to be extremely happy!

But apparently smoking pot is strictly frowned upon judging by many of the Wrigley posts I've seen?? :?

This will be my first GA PJ show (13 year member with 10 shows in) and I have never been in the top 20 rows or anywhere near what I would call a great spot.
That being said, I am sure that if I chose the furthest spot back on the floor, I would still have my best PJ experience ever.
So I will not stress in my hometown San Diego (though now that I think about it, the venue isn't exactly in the middle of a thriving bar scene)...but if I think my experience can be improved on for LA2 by getting a bit closer, I guess I will cross that bridge when I come to it.
The crappiest GA spot beats 95% of all the other seats in the house...right???

I was 11th row at MSG night 1 in 2008 and couldn't see a thing all night because I had two 6'5 + guys blocking my view. I'm 5'11. It sucked.
