Was anyone else disappointed with the Hyatt on Wacker?

Or was it just me? The bathroom was freaking awful. The tub was slippery as hell and the water pressure in both the shower and sink sucked donkey balls. The walls were made out of paper and every time one of my neighbors returned to their room I thought someone was trying to get into mine. The TV was terrible (which I shouldn't complain about cuz I didn't watch it) and some standard things that I got used to in cheap hotels were missing from the Hyatt, such as cups for the bathroom, mattresses that don't murder one's back, adequate lighting, and an exhaust fan in the bathroom. I had to open the door post shower (and if you were there this weekend you know multiple showers a day were necessary cuz of the heat) to defog the mirror.

Pros: the provided lighted magnifying mirror served as a decent nightlight and there was an in room safe, as well as ironing board and iron, hair dryer, and coffee machine (none of which i used). The staff were friendly and helpful, and the bars in the building were cool. The complimentary boarding pass printing station was a nice touch as well.

I knew about this going in, but $200/night and they want $13/day for wifi? The location was fantastic though. I just really didn't like the actual room, it was very clean.

Which tower were you in? We were in I believe the West tower (not the one with the main lobby, the other one) and our experience was much different. Super clean and quiet room. We heard nothing from any neighbors. AC kept the room cool, exhaust fan in the bathroom worked like a charm. We were very pleased with the hotel.

Only real problem was getting back to it Saturday morning after the show. We walked 3 of the 5 miles back before finally flagging a cab. That sucked.

    I was happy with it.

Agree about the TV...man that sucked. Very quiet around our room but we were on the 14th floor and checked in on Wednesday.

    I paid $135/night on Hotwire

I was happy with it. We were in the west tower. Stayed at the Palmer House Saturday night and it was nice, but I liked the Hyatt better.

I waited til 330 then ended up getting on the L, and taking a cab from the State/Lake stop got back a little after 4.

It was fine for us... We stayed in the West tower. That's probably because we didn't go to bed until 5 each morning, love bars that stay open till 4. Awesome location....

The breakfast buffet was not worth $24/plate. Soggy oatmeal, soggy eggs, cold sausage.

Yeah that was shitty. You got it free though right? You get 2 buffets with each night you stayed

I was in the west tower and agree that the TV was crap, but other than that thought it was OK( I actually liked the bed). What did suck was that I couldn't find a vending machine @ 3:45 (starving after show) But I gorged myself at the buffet the next day so it was no biggie.

I don't believe it was part of our reservation. I didn't book the room though.

We were in a high room in the west tower...never too loud......hotel served its purpose, but it was a bit of a walk to the trains.

Mattress was too hard, and tv were lacking in choices.

We were in the West Tower on the 20th floor. I don't have any complaints about the room, but the elevators were a pain. They took forever to come to the floor and most of the time they were completely full...UGH! All in all we had a positive experience. Nice staff and clean room.
We were super lucky getting back to the hotel after the show. We walked about 3 blocks (past the train platform) and flagged down a cab and got back just before 3:00am. We had no idea that there were so many issues with transportation until the next day.

Judging from the responses it seems like the rooms in the west tower didn't have the problems I found in my room in the east tower.

Good to know for anyone who may be booking a room here: request west tower if possible.
