Probably the best opening band ever to play for Pearl Jam. Anyone else love this band?
The remote part is probably one of the best songs ever written. I think these guys went on a
hiatus. Any one else know what is going on. Watch this video and be amazed. Thoughts.

I enjoyed them when they opened for PJ in Dallas. Something had happened and their bus broke down and they barely made it for the show, but they still played a good set. I bought The Remote Part after that, and I enjoyed it, but that's as far as I went into their discography.

Huge idlewild fan since the mid 90s . They did indeed split up. Roddy woomble the lead singer, is now solo and has released 3 Lps. The music is very different to most of Idlewild's stuff. It's traditional folk, his latest Lp was released in march this year and is called "listen to keep" . It's pretty good and worth checking out.

Yeah I got into them big time after that show in Dallas! I was there too and was just completely
blown away, especially by the remote part. I suggest everyone dig into their discography.
I know roddy is doing the solo thing, but I think they will get back together. I think they are just on a
hiatus. Check out this song from their album after the remote part. The riff is insane.

I have 5 of their albums: Make Another World, The Remote Part, Warnings/Promises, A Distant History (rarities), and 100 Broken Windows.

I think 100 Broken Windows is their best album by far. "Little Discourage" and "Mistake Pageant" are highlights but the whole album is great.

Great band from just North of the border...

The Remote Part and 100 Broken Windows are 2 of the best British albums of the past 20 years...

  • I've seen Idlewild 12 times over the years. They supported U2 and REM a lot and I saw a few of their own shows. Possibly the most underrated band out there. A really solid live band. Shame their popularity dwindled really. My fave albums of theirs are 100 Broken Windows, The Remote Part and Warnings/Promises. Definitely worth checking out.
Happy up here in my tree
