I was at the show and totally agree that the merchandise situation was out of hand. I could almost understand them selling merch outside the day of the show but why the day before and to people who didn't even have a ticket to the show? There were a lot of people who traveled from across the globe that arrived into town the day of the show and were unable to score a poster or a t-shirt because of this error in judgement.
I'm all for selling merch outside of the venue the day of the actual show to people who have a ticket to the event. Hopefully the band looks at putting some more policies in place to ensure this doesn't happen again.
The day of the show I was talking to a buddy who said the merch lines outside were 5 city blocks long. People waited for 3.5 hours. Said no way to that and was content with no posters. Get to the show at 6:15 hit a merch line. In it for 40 minutes. Come away with two posters and two t shirts. So there is always another story
Why not make these items available online to 10c members or all? Then all 10c members or all are happy, PJ makes the sale, and the people that are trying to profit from eBay sales lose out on trying to take advantage of PJs loyal fans.
i was pretty concerned for my safety at the lines inside the venue. the lines outside were nuts. I waited on the unpopular poster-less line for about a half hour trying to get a shirt with no luck, but it wasn't a huge deal. I avoided the red tents with the 3+ hour lines. The merch stand inside was fine until one of the Wrigley employees shouted at everyone to move up which let to extra lines forming on the side with people trying to cut in. There was an extremely angry guy yelling a lot. I'm 5'2 so I couldn't see anything that was going on, and people were pushing in front of me as we got closer to the counter.
I did wind up with two actual ladies sized shirts that are actually cool, so I'm pretty excited about that!
Someone mentioned they should have made a stand that was ONLY for posters. That would have made me very happy.
Two friends waited 3.5hours for merch on Thursday, in the heat, but got everything they wanted. I've never seen merch lines crazy like that before.
I was in line talking to another long standing 10c member (I think she said since 94) and she suggested that for a show as historic and epic as Wrigley, they should have at least made one poster specifically for sale online only to 10c members. I think that would have solved everything.

Unfortunately the resellers are the ones that benefitted most. Hopefully they will sell at least some of gear here but I think it would take a bunch of us to campaign for that to happen.
The merchandise situation was the worst I have ever seen. I got in line on Sheffield at 9:30am Friday. At 10:45am the manager of the Captain Morgan bar opened the gate so that the line could "snake" into the bar to get under umbrellas and buy drink to cool off. But, after the place was filled, the cutoff to the line was pointed at another merchandise table that was not to open until gates for show did at 5:30pm. At 12:15pm the merch table we were in line for opened. It had only 3 employees and only one cash register! On top of this they didnt seem to know what they were doing. 30 minutes later the other table opened up and thus rewarded those that got in line later than 300 people the opportunity to be at front of line. At 2:30pm I made it about 10 people back when it was announced that all posters had sold out. I bought two wristbands, two card packs and a hoodie. All clothing that said PJ and Wrigley together were sold out. I left disappointed but realized this was the risk when I got in line. I left to friend's condo two blocks away to eat and shower. I returned to pick up my tickets at will call which took me back by the line/table I was at an hour earlier. To my shock and anger the booth had been restocked with all posters! WTF!!

I remember getting near a line and saying "man, that's long". Someone taps me on the shoulder and says "are you looking for the back of the line? It's down there" and points across the street to where the line snaked for about four blocks.
I love PJ and I have lots of posters but I didn't need one that badly.

I got to the venue right around 1pm on Friday, and asked a guy who had just come out of one of the merch booths and said he'd waited "over 3hrs" to get through the line. Unreal. I wanted posters too, but I was looking to hang out with my friends and enjoy a new city - not stand in line on a 90+ degree day. I was hoping the situation IN the venue would be better, but no - it wasn't - and by then I feel things were pretty well picked over. There has to be a better way...
Then only to find out some limited stuff was released "after" the show we had all watched unfold over the previous 6 hours.......

I was in merch lines Day -2, Day -1, and day of - first day wasn't too bad, only first two posters were released, sold out about 2 hours into the line - the next day was ridiculous, with only two employees working the larger booth. I was told the day before they were going to open an hour earlier - which turned out to actually mean 15 minutes late, with 3 times the booth size - but again, only 2 people working it. Got in line at 11, got out at 1:30 empty-handed because I wasn't going to wait 2 hours to grab the hoodie that wasn't available Day 1.
Then, Friday - what a mess. They email 10c members at 2am that they're opening early, so my "leave the suburbs at 7:30 with my buddy to guarantee ourselves posters" plan got shot because now EVERYBODY headed in earlier - and they said "outside booths will not be restocked" - then changed their mind at 9:30am in a tweet that we missed. So - we got to 7 people from the front of the line, posters sold out, we left, then another 10c'er that we met texted me 30 minutes later (we had gone to lunch 30 minutes away) that they had restocked. WTF!?!?
That same main booth also claimed they were out of most shirts, etc. - and then the boxes THAT WE COULD SEE BEHIND THE BOOTH suddenly came out of hiding an hour later, apparently.
I could go on about more dropped balls (passed balls? Get it?) but I'll keep it simple: something's gotta change. As fans, we're too dedicated, too invested, and 10c has been slipping. 80% of people that I talked to were disappointed or disgusted with the ticketing situation, too. Online 10c-only posters (even if we have to pay S/H) or pre-order and pickup with 10c tickets or something - they could have saved people so much time, energy, frustration, even money. I spent a lot of money on gas, lunches, etc. in the name of avoiding paying eBay/CL resellers. And, in the name of what? Why are the posters so limited? They're really not limited enough to make them TRULY valuable - they're not ever going to be worth $25,000 because only 100 were made, for example - but they are limited enough that a secondary, inflated market is created. If they made enough posters that we knew that we could basically get them by getting to the show reasonably early, not crazy early - then it would eliminate that market, and the problem with it.
There were all kinds of miscommunications, shortcomings, and lack of product - as my two buddies put it, "I WANT TO GIVE 10C MY MONEY - WHY ARE THEY MAKING IT SO HARD FOR ME TO GIVE THEM MY MONEY!?!?"

I wanted merch but didn't want to wait in line in the heat only to find out they ran out of the stuff I wanted. I just checked Ebay and the t shirts are going for $70+.
Please, 10C, sell the t shirts on here and put the fucking scalpers out of business!!!!!!
I think the whole Merch SHIT was so FUCKED UP you sould of been able to puchase someting when you picked up your 10C tix at the window. So much shit on Ebay by WED Day I call BULL$HIT
I totally agree with you... And I think 10C should propose to the fan who buy ticket in advance the opportunity to preorder their poster and redeem them at the very same moment you get to pick up your 10C TICKET...
I am really desapointment to not have been able to bring one of the 4 posters options from Chicago. I hope 10C will provide us with that opportunity soon.

Personally, I kind of wish they implemented a policy of no multiple items per person. Seeing people wall away with two if each poster and multiples of each shirt was frustrating.
If they can limit the sales of posters to 2 per design, I think they could expand on that.
Just my personal opinion after waiting in a line for way longer than I would like to admit and walking away empty handed. Granted I eventually scored what I wanted inside, but it's frustrating to hear about flippers buying 5 of each shirt etc. Letting people buy 8 posters is also ridiculous, IMHO. Making merch available outside clearly enables the scalpers, so I know this is sort of unprecedented, but if I had my way there would be a single piece per person rule (as in, yes, you can buy one of everything, but no more than one of anything)
I was at the Waveland St merch line at 10:30. The line seemed pretty short compared to others so we hopped in. I don't think they opened right at noon more like 12:15 or 12:30. By 1:30 the lined hadn't moved an inch. I should have just left by that point but I had already invested 3 hours into this. By the time I got to the table it was 4:30. And I just watched 2 of the 3 available posters sell out right in front of my eyes and everything else left was an XS. 6 HOURS! I love this band more than anything but, I learned my lesson and I will never stand in a merch line like that again. There were so many other fun things I could have been doing during the day. At least I met some cool people in line. That was the only thing that made it bearable.
It seemed to me that the band produced way more posters and t-shirts than usual... the problem is that we PJ fans have become hoarders. They give and give, and we want, and want, and want. I know the band has said in the past that they want things to be "part of the concert experience" but given how ridiculous the merch situation is at any PJ show, it's time for them to keep printing stuff 'til the last wallet closes, or for us to admit we have problems. I've never seen demand like this for any other band, not for posters, not for anything.
(Fingers pointed at myself included. I got my jacket and t-shrts and trading cards. Would have really like a poster or two, but didn't get it and ya know what? I lived.)
The whole problem could have been solved if after picking up tickets at will call, you go into a separate area to buy your shit. That way you ensure 10 clubbers get stuff, not the people with nothing better to do than wait in line for shit at a show they're not even going to, and sell it on ebay! The lines were absolutely ridiculous. Never seen anything like it. That said, the lines, the delay, the walk to our hotel downtown after the show were a small price to pay for an amazing show!

In a perfect world I suppose.....
I was in the "Red Trailer" line for close to four hours on Thursday. Managed to get two "Cracker Jack" posters and two shirts. Met some great people... actually enjoyed the investment of time to do really nothing for 3+ hours when my life is usually so scheduled. Also picked up the "hot dog" print inside Wrigley day of the show. not a fan of the "alien" or "monkey" so didn't bother.
Any how... the limits for prints of 2 each PER PRINT was ridiculous. One each of the four maybe... ideally 2 total per person would have been good. My guess is they printed a ton of all in anticipation of the demand... underestimated the demand, and really f'd up the distribution.
Shirts should have been limited as well. no worries if you by 2 of one design... hell even 2 of every design. when i was getting close on Thursday... in addition to 8 posters, one douche bought 12 of each shirt available at the time. 8 posters and 36 shirts is ridiculous.
Presale for 10C ticket holders would be great. 10C only poster would be a great idea too. regardless Wrigley was a unique event... future shows likely to only have 1 poster anyway!
