New Wrigley shirt stained. Can you get ink out?

Well this sucks. Bought a shirt last night and put it in a bookbag I brought. Well there was a stain from a leaked pen on the inside that is years old. Anyway it rained last night and the red ink soaked onto the shirt when it got wet.

Any Jammers here with experience removing ink stains? I'm thinking I might take it to a dry cleaners when I get home and say help!

    1. Go to any store and buy GOO GONE. (the regular kind.. not the kind that erodes through skin)
    2. Soak the spot in a concentrated pool of Goo Gone gooeyness.
preferably in a type of plastic bag or wrapping, (not the whole shirt just the spot.), Goo Gone evaporates.

    3. after 12 hours, examine stain.

    4. still ink? = more time. Less ink? = less time

    5. After 24 hours of soaking in Goo Gone... and it's not gone? Embrace the stain.

    6. Wash the shirt or don't go around open flames.(It's safe.. lighter fluid made with orange extract)

(I damaged the bumper of my boyfriend's new car this weekend, and got a little of the garage door's paint on the side of the car. After a few moments of panic, a soft towel and Goo Gone, I was able to tell him about it. Yes, it works that well... ;) Wink. Wink. )

Goo Gone, good idea. Thanks for the suggestion. I looked up tips, but like to see what other's opinions are. Thanks again!

There are lots of different options listed here:

To get stains out I normally just use a product called Napisan oxi-action powder, normally I just dissolve the powder in a small amount of hot water, then fill the rest of the tub with cold water. Hot/warm water sets stains, so I always soak in cold water.

From searching online, I found this, it is probably similar to napisan:

Didn't think I'd ever share laundry tips on the 10C forum, but there you go :) .

I'd leave it on there...like someone mentioned earlier, "embrace the stain"....its a stain, on your shirt, that you got at Wrigley 2013. Just another story to remember & tell. It'll probably fade after awhile on its own anyway.

unless you're planning to flip it ;)

  • This should work: soak the shirt in cold water for about six hours; most of the ink should bleed out. After it has soaked, immediately apply a stain remover and then wash it. Learned this from the Flaming Lips doc (Wayne Coyne does it for his blood-stained suits). Have tried it a few times and it has worked like a charm.

Use hairspray, works all the time for me...my daughter "tags" everything in our house! Especially my clothes.

Soak the stain in a saucer of milk, then wash as normal. Make tea and add milk.
    Not that milk obviously.

I told my Mom about it and she took over and did her Mom thing, haha.

She said she used OxyClean and let it soak in some water. Came out in no time. (No, I don't live with my parents and no my Mom doesn't do my laundry - but she was happy to help so I let her!)

  • Another good remedy:

    Wine Out

If it can get red wine out of white table cloths without fading the white, it can get anything out. It works. Trust me.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
