Positives of Wrigley Field Show

I have seen many people complain about the concert and I would agree with some of their points. The merchandise selling was terrible and I think dangerous. Waiting outside on Thursday in that heat was dangerous. Then, when the gates opened for the show, there was a mad dash to the merchandise stands. I was physically squashed in the stampede to one of the stands. Combine that with the heat and everyone pushing...dangerous. That is how people get seriously hurt or even die.

I also thought it was dangerous if not stupid that you had to wait in line and pay to get water when the delay came. I mean, you have 46,000 people in sweltering heat jammed packed in a small area and you are charging and holding back a life necessity so you can make money? They should have been handing water out in that concourse for free. It was brutally hot and people were visibly suffering from the heat. Shameful.

The delay itself sucked and was unavoidable, but it would have been nice to know about some updates. After damn near 3 hours no one told the crowd jackshit. An update of "Hey, the weather system should be clearing soon" or "We will continue the concert and forgo the curfew, folks" would have been greatly appreciated.

Then when the concert ended there were NO trains for at least an hour causing a huge line and misery. After waiting, people were then told that it would only be Southbound trains and no Northbound trains. Those who needed to go Northbound were screwed (which included me).

Anyway, onto the positives! I saw people buying water and handing it out to people in the merchandise lines. I saw people offer to hold other people's spots while the other person sought shade or water. During the rain delay, I saw people giving others their ponchos to stay dry. I heard people asking each other if they were okay in the heat and checking up on each other. I personally met some cool people including Mo-Mo and her sister who were getting completely soaked until I offered them my poncho. I then got to know them and it rekindled my faith in the PJ experience.

I think this concert was just a combination of bad timing, planning, and events. But still, it was amazing when it got back at it and the people definitely made the experience.

So for those thinking this was a big clusterfuck and were miserable; yes, you have a right to think that but think back to all the positives of it that made it a true PJ experience.

Sorry for the long post!

You should have stayed outside (under the shelter of the upper decks, it was crowded but every one was super cool) -- the temp dropped below 73 F with an awesome breeze at one point , as far as updates... I think they needed to power off the PA... Most of us followed the real time updates that the band posted on twitter.

We have been advised to wait until a second weather cell passes. We intend to provide you w/ a full show tonight.

    Those are my positives.

We flew in from Boston on Thursday morning and had a great two days around Wrigley meeting some good people (like at all PJ shows). The unbearable heat and long waiting in the GA line was all worth it when we ended up being in the second row! We were surrounded by an amazing group and atmosphere near the stage. This all changed after the intermission.

I hate to complain about something the band and venue had no realistic control over, but it sucks. Post-storm, half the people in the GA area were drunk, rowdy losers who didn't belong there (they had no wristbands). They rushed the area and pushed themselves up front with us now stuck in the back. The whole atmosphere changed and it was awful. It was my girlfriend's first show and now probably her last. I feel bad, because the the boys really did everything possible to make this show, but they could have done and played anything and it didn't matter. Hanging out around Wrigley in the days leading up to show was amazing and we met some really great people from Pennsylvania, Memphis, LA, and even a couple from Alaska. It's just too bad, but the show itself was a huge disappointment for us.

I was wondering what would become of the GA crowd post-intermission. That sucks to lose your hard-earned spot in the pit, especially to those kinds of idiots. Hopefully the disappointment fades, and soon, when the bootleg is available, you can listen back and focus on the truly amazing parts. Hopefully the music will become the dominant more memorable part of your experience.

Plus... NO ONE will ever rob you of your lifetime of bragging rights....
You where at THE WRIGLEY SHOW WHEN THEY PLAYED UNTIL 2 AM.

A lot of good things to write about for this show, but the rain delay may have been the best part (and chloe). At least where we were hanging out, camaraderie was awesome. Swapping stories and sharing all beer, food, and water. First guy I met on the orange line leaving Midway on Thursday hit me up about PJ as soon as I sat down. Sure enough during the rain delay we crossed paths again, this time with our crews in tow. Definitely remaining outside was the way to tackle that delay. I know it was longer, but it felt like 15 minutes to us.

This one was all about resilience; most of the time things don't get pulled off perfectly. Bounce back.
