Does anyone have a hard time naming their favorite? Me and a few buddies we sitting around the fire last night having a few beer, talking music and this topic came up and I really could not pick my favorite, they are all so great.

It's tough for sure. For me, A Hard Day's Night is my fave. The songs are so simple yet so incredibly catchy. Also it was their first album that was entirely original material (no covers).

Rubber Soul, Abbey Rd, and Magical Mystery tour round out my other top albums. But I know what you're saying. It's like picking your favorite kid. They're all great in one way or another.

Add " Let it Be " to that list and I agree, The Beatles from Rubber Soul onward were unreal....Amazing really.

I think its a given its hard to name a favorite, since every single one of their albums is a masterpiece. That said The White Album has always been my favorite.

Greatest band of all time. its not even close.

Dude, the White album is so ridiculously, mind-bendingly brilliant. There is literally a 180 in song tempo every 3 songs or so. While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Dear Prudence, Helter Skelter, Revolution. It just goes on and on. Simply brilliant and there will never be another album like it.

pickin up where another poster left off, the lyrics of every beatles album are so simple. So direct. Lennon/Mccartney two of the best songwriters in history, but I think they prove a pop song can have as much impact and lasting effect as a Dylan song with intricate lyrics. On the "most beautiful love songs" thread that features alot of Beatles songs, my choice was I Want to Hold Your Hand. So simple, but it expresses all that needs to be said.

Not a big Beatles fan, so I don't know if I should be chiming in. However, SGT PEPPERS is the one for me!
  • Revolver. 5 John songs. 5 Paul songs. 3 songs from George(instead of his usual 1 or 2) and Ringo with Yellow Submarine. It's perfectly balanced. Experimental, yet without all the production you get on Pepper. It's dark, trippy, with lots of great sounding guitars (including backwards). And at the end, all hell breaks loose on Tomorrow Never Knows. Brilliant.

I love the White Album, but there are a bunch of songs that I just can't listen to mixed in there and I can't really get into the flow of it. It has a lot of my favorite songs, "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey" is a top contender for my favorite Beatles song, but I don't care for listening to the entire album. I have to skip around the likes of Wild Honey Pie, Honey Pie, Revolution 9, Don't Pass Me By, Goodnight, I Will, etc.
