Listening outside Wrigley

Hello everyone. Just joined Ten Club a week or two ago. I'm kicking myself like crazy for letting "bargain" tickets of $235 each slip through my fingers when I saw them on StubHub a couple weeks ago, only to see them climb up to a minimum of $500 as of Thursday night. I'm not willing/able to go that high, so now I appear SOL. But in frustration for my delay in pouncing on those tickets, I'm seriously thinking of making the three-hour drive just to hang out outside Wrigley. Hearing them do the soundcheck on the webcam outside the venue, which another member posted here, kind of inspired me. Has anyone else ever listened to any concert outside Wrigley or a simliar outdoor stadium-type venue? I know it's not going to be the same quality as indoors obviously, but in terms of what you CAN hear, is it worthwhile to just hang out around the ballpark and take in what you can?

    Sound where the left field foul pole is is crystal clear. Do It, you might find a miracle ticket.

    I got in! Listened outside before the rain delay, went to a bar during the delay then returned to hang out by an entrance/exit gate down the left field line. Out of nowhere someone came out and asked, "Anyone need a ticket?" right next to me. I was kind of zoning out and it took a second to sink in before I said yes, I do. Sold me an extra lower deck seat with a great view for $100, and I got in just before the show resumed. Wouldn't have happened if not for the rain delay. I was SO happy.

    I definitely did, all in all my favorite PJ concert experience ever in nine shows. A couple friends of mine were bummed that the set was cut short of what was intended, but didn't think I'd actually be inside for any of it, so I couldn't have been more thrilled with what I got.
