Is LATG have the band's best Sonic Reducer?

I haven't heard a ton of versions of this song, but I can't stop listening to this one. In my opinion it blows away the one from the NYE show that came with the new album.

Any other recommendations? Preferrably from newer tours, as that's what I have most access to.

Thanks!

  • I'd vote for the Nashville '03 version with Cheetah Chrome of the Dead Boys on guitar.
  • there are plenty other better sonic reducers out there...
  • I find questions like this slightly stupid. I don't really think you can judge a best version of the song unless you were at all performances. In most cases, the differences are somewhat minimal on the boots. I always get a kick out of people arguing on here about what version is the best out of 200+

agreed, great version....except for the fact that Cheetah Chrome's guitar solo sucked. But, it's his song, so he has the right to shit on it if he wants to.

  • This is one of all time faves! I've been lucky enough to see it several times and heard tons of recordings, but I'd have to say I'm partial to the Dallas '98 version. It was the show closer and the Murder City Devils helped out.
    :D Fucking Rocked. :D
  • MSG version of Sonic Reducer is one of the worst.

Atlanta 94 and New Orleans 95 are the best IMO.

Far as 03 versions, Nashville and San Diego are good.

LATG = Live at The Garden

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm surprised to hear from many that the version I enjoy the best is not at the top of anyone else's list. I guess I need to widen my Sonic horizens.

yeah definately.. and pretty cool how he was on the Pit the night before the show asking if there was a way he could get in touch with the band and what do u know he is on stage less than 24 hours later playing it.. and they played it the show before which is odd for SR
