Amen to quitting smoking...for it's me it's been exactly 2 years (quit when I turned 21). we certainly don't want Eddie's voice to become like Cornell's voice as it is now (i mean come on, the man only has enough range to sing ballads these days)

  • Worry about yourself...leave others to the will of their own
I'm trying to drink away the part of the day I cannot sleep away...
  • I second that. If he wants to smoke then let him, I'm sure he's aware of the damage and if he wants to quit then he will.

Why don't do something that's actually helpful like go pick up some trash, help an old lady cross the road or whatever instead of this bollocks?

I Third that, honestly i don't care what Eddie does, Leave him to his own choices, if he was to quit it would be for family or health issues not some fan who has a crap idea...

Baby, You Wouldn't Last a Minute on The Creek......

Together we will float like angels.........

In the moment that you left the room, the album started skipping, goodbye to beauty shared with the ones that you love.........

Are you serious!!! I went and saw Cornell live a couple of weeks ago and he's never sounded better!!!! And that was pretty much the opinion of everyone at the show.

I'm going outside for a cigarette :D CYA!

I can't express enough how much I disagree with the Cornell statement. Have you heard any of shows lately, his voice sounds great!

wow, if someone who i don't know/love/respect/admire ever tried coordinating an initiative to get me to stop doing anything I would be so pissed!
  • I think we all agree that Ed's voice is amazing.

Im hoping you all have the Into the Wild Sountrack. Ed's voice is clearly as amazing as ever on that.... and he is still smoking.

Before we all bag the shit out of the thread starter, I think they are just passionate about Ed's voice and are worried if he continues to smoke that it will deteriorate.... It probably will eventually. But right now, his voice is fine and dandy, so let's let sleeping dogs lie.

and remember before starting a petition, maybe have a good hard think about it. It all well and good to start one for a gig somewhere, but when it involves a member personally, its always gonna be a "Caution Hot Dont place Fingers Here" type thread.

Why not send Ed a letter instead :)
Im sure he would be stoked that you are worried about him.
he who forgets will be destined to remember

i don't smoke, but if u smoke - u smoke,i dont agree with it, but people won't stop because of a thread on here. I hate ciggies, i watched my grandfather live with a third of his lung capacity until he died a really painfull death.

Standing outside his hospital room, when the nurses are sticking a tube down his throat and into his lungs to suck the mucus up was enough to swear me off the gaspers....

However i do contradict what i said a little earlier, i'm trying to get my sister to quit, I've told her if i ever see her with a ciggie, im ripping it out of her mouth. Just an over protective brother, but if u knew the full story, u would know why i'm so protective......

Maybe the worst thread ever. Let him do what he wants.

You people are stubborn headed. This is a great thread because it shows we care about ed's health. sometimes people need a little help or nudge in kicking their habit. If we look back on this and pearl jam has to call it quits early because the band doesnt want to continue because ed's voice isnt up to par, then how would you feel? Its just like if you had a friend who smoked and you were like man I wish he would quit but you would never say anything to him about it? cmon thats lame. As much as some of us travel around to see Pearl Jam we have ever right to to care about how each of the band members is doing with regards to their health. We want them to stick around as long as possible...yes? Ok then if thats gonna happen Ed should consider quitting smoking.
