Weather in Chicago on Friday

So, now that we are closing in on the Wrigley Show, all signs point to 'yes' that the weather is going to bad on Friday. In fact, weather.com (http://www.weather.com/weather/5-day/Chicago+IL+USIL0225:1:US) is predicting 50% chance of rain with 'potential for severe thunderstorms'. Anyone know the policy if the show is cancelled/postponed? Precedence for playing the following night? .....Am I just prematurely freaking out? :wtf:

I'll be pretty upset if it gets cancelled, but I don't see them cancelling the concert over rain. Anyways rain will add an interesting atmosphere to the concert. Hopefully they will "play ball" in the rain. :D
  • Hopefully I can calm some nerves. Here in the Midwest when it storms in the summer it's not an all day event. It typically comes and goes pretty quick, especially with 40mph wind gusts like we'll have on Friday. Worst case scenario is the show could start late (wouldn't effect set time) if there is lightning in the area. Rain alone will not have any affect on the show. A storm passing through may be what we'll need because it'll bring with it a "cold front" dropping temps into the 70's, until it does it'll be in the 90's with high humidity and dew points making the heat index well above 100 degrees.

Have no fear, the show will go on and it will be epic!

FYI. The weather forecast has improved a bit for Chi-town tomorrow. Weather.com (http://www.weather.com/weather/5-day/Chicago+IL+USIL0225:1:US) is showing a 30% chance of rain (and isolated t-storms) which is down from 50% earlier this week. Yehaw.

  • I noticed that as well, however I have a feeling we'll all be hoping for rain after being in the 110 degree heat! LOL

    Can't wait for the show!!

Whatever weather event happens to make it through the area appears to be making an impact on the weather on Sat and Sunday! A high of 78 on Sunday....not bad for July.

  • For sure, this is when we like cold fronts LOL

I saw them at a show in October of 2000 at Alpine Valley where it was a freaky cold front in October ( usually about 60) and that night it was 20 degrees at show time. They played for 2 1/2 hours in that weather, they are troopers when it comes to braving the elements. Although, I've seen some pretty nasty stuff come through Wrigley Field over the years. To me, rain is rain, I have a raincoat that stuffs into itself. The only thing I would worry about is if you are sitting anywhere in the seats, people crack open umbrellas, obstructing view. I'm not going to the show, I refuse to pay a dime (ok maybe 1 or 2 beers at the show) over cost.

Have fun all who are going, should be a great show!
  • The funny part about alpine is that it was in the 70's and sunny the following day.

That's right, I forgot about that. Still the only outdoor show I've seen wearing a winter coat. Did you see them in Soldier Field in 95? I think this show is on par with that one weather wise.

Your post motivated me to go buy a 1.99 rain poncho from a local sports store. It fit in my back pocket. Seriously the best 2 bucks I have ever spent!
