So I was dry and since I was grounded I didn't get hit by the lightning. I knew I would be ok. Except for going from about row 4 to 25 after the rain delay"Then the Spirit of God hovered over the water, and God said, Let there be music, and there was Pearl Jam."

Yes, some of us lined before breakfast to have a shot at being on the rail for potentially one of the most memorable shows ever. Most fans chose not to.....
Actually making it to the rail and being directly in front of Mike was surreal. To have it taken away by others who hadn't made the effort, some who didn't even have GA passes, was devastating.
While a lot of us were totally disappointed with losing the spots we had put so much time and effort into securing, it was hard to stay composed when those who took our spots were gloating about it and then were annoyed with our efforts to reclaim our previous postions.
The worst part of the whole deal were a father and his son who were next to us for his son's first show. They had been with us since 7am, the boy was a trooper, and to see them lose their rail spot and have that "moment of a lifetime" lost was devastating.
81 - usually I find your comments mildly entertaining, but this thread and your comments were poorly thought through. I hope you don't experience the same disappointment any time soon.
It sucks that people snuck into GA after the rain delay. Security should have done a better job. I was standing near one of the entrances on Waveland during the rain delay and security did an awful job keeping out people without a ticket. There was a girl in her twenties working there and she allowed people to leave the stadium for a smoke (some people went to McDonald's and brought back food) as long as you showed a ticket when you came back. But she gave up after an hour or so when she found some friends and was just hanging out talking to them the rest of the time. People were pouring through the gate at this time and it was clear they had no tickets.
But as far as losing your spot... The whole concept of GA is General Admission. That means there are no assigned seats. If you want to claim a seat or spot as yours, you need a ticket in the RESERVED section. That seat is yours for the whole night.1996: Randall's Island 2 1998: East Rutherford | MSG 1 & 2 2000: Cincinnati | Columbus | Jones Beach 1, 2, & 3 | Boston 1 | Camden 1 & 2 2003: Philadelphia | Uniondale | MSG 1 & 2 | Holmdel 2005: Atlantic City 1 2006: Camden 1 | East Rutherford 1 & 2 2008: Camden 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 (#25) | Newark (EV) 2009: Philadelphia 1, 2 & 4 2010: Newark | MSG 1 & 2 2011: Toronto 1 2013: Wrigley Field | Brooklyn 2 | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore 2015: Central Park 2016: Philadelphia 1 & 2 | MSG 1 & 2 | Fenway Park 2 | MSG (TOTD) 2017: Brooklyn (RnR HOF) 2020: MSG | Asbury Park 2021: Asbury Park 2022: MSG | Camden | Nashville 2024: MSG 1 & 2 (#50) | Philadelphia 1 & 2 | Baltimore 2025: Raleigh 20 -

Yeah, that's what life is. Being crown a curveball, your choice to bail out or wait for it to hang a bit & hit it out of the park :ugeek: . You have to make the best of the situation that happens.
As a trained NYC fireman, I've been taught to size-up, evaluate the situation, .....then respond.
Here's how the evening went for me.
I walked into GA at 6:00 pm , spotted up 10 deep right in front of Mike
. No sense wasting my day, lining up early , I partied with great people at The Full Shilling, thanks Shannon
. We all know what happened, lightning threatened the floor & everyone was asked to leave the area in an orderly fashion. Except everyone near the rail didn't want to give up their prime spot. I knew we would have to leave sooner or later, but figured, the last one to leave will be one of the first ones back :ugeek: . Again, as a trained fireman I couldn't leave in good consciousness without making sure that everyone, & I mean everyone, got off the floor safely, before me  . I proceeded, with my firehouse t shirt on, which helped, to explain to the security people my intention to help them get everyone out safely before I would leave. They all pretty much let me stay behind & help assist the evacuation with them. One of the last few out, one of the first ones in :shifty: .
I wasn't trying to steal the rail from the "fanatics", they deserved to get their spots back for all the time they waited, but it was gonna be a new sprint to the rail. I tried to calm some of the people around me who were waiting by the entrance to the floor near the left field foul pole. They were on the rail before the delay. Some were afraid of getting stampeded by the crowd rushing in behind them. I also knew the odds of them getting to the rail again were slim, unfortunately that's life sometimes, you get the curveball. When the rush started, survival was my 1st instinct. I haven't been able to run since my accident, 12 years ago. I had no expectation to get much closer than I was before, just around the same area. I skipped my way back to the stage, I hear Speedy was leading a cheering section for my efforts, thanks Mike 8-) .
I wound up 5 deep between Jeff & Mike. Good enough for me
. Funny, most off the people there with me were without their ticket buddy, including me
. Didn't matter, I know how to have a good time
.
Hope all were satisfied with there new spots. I know it may not have been where you were, but you have to make best of the situation that happens. I live by a motto from a very good friend, remember............
We may not be here (on earth) for a long time, might as well "MAKE IT A GOOD TIME "
See you all the next time. If you see the HAT, say hello 8-)So, What you Giving ?........ (Thanks Speedy, Alesek, & Arq+friends)

I suggest you step out on your Porch.

post of the day right here folks....well played Joe
5 deep
I couldn't keep up with Joe. I wound up 5-6 people back from where he was after the rain :fp: . It helps that he's a bit thinner than I am. It's easier for him to sliver between others
. If he could survive being buried under a 3 storied wall, he certainly won't be bothered from a tight, crazy, PJ pit. He probably still could work in our firehouse, even with all the injuries. Good thing it won't be raining inside Barclays Center the next time we use my GA tickets, it'll be easier to stay with him

Definitely happened. I saw people actually jumping OVER the gate around GA and running up front... They couldn't go in through where everybody else was entering the pit again, I'm guessing not only did they not have GA, they were probably some of those who didn't even have tickets to begin with and just crashed the venue after the rain delay, unchecked re-entry etc. From the side, I saw multiple Meatheads run to the front then throw up their fists as if they conquered the great challenge. I guarantee you they did not have GA before and they were certainly not at the rail before the evacuation. I'm sure it changed the whole vibe for those people who WERE up front at the start, singing on camera and happy. Was it Nothingman where they showed that guy freaking out singing, and everyone laughed at how excited and happy he was to be there? Replace him with a drunk jock for the 2nd half.
It's still beyond me why PJ wants to go back to having this GA nonsense again, and wrigley seemed like good proof that it's stupid. The people up front didn't seem anymore "into it" than if they were the people up front in reserved seats. It didn't make or break the show having a GA crowd in the front... I saw ALL KINDS of infuriating BAD PARENTING in and around Wrigley this weekend. Infants in the scorching heat in strollers in the merch lines for HOURS, toddlers being dragged around in the sun with no protection whatsoever, a baby less than a year old in the venue before & AFTER the delay - screaming while mom & dad rocked out. Agreed...I saw all the drunk frat boys run up and raise their hands in the air like they were the champions of life. And I was stuck behind a few of them for a very short while...they were just standing there. No singing, no dancing. Just taking video on their phones. The group on the rail that I was with beforehand were so thrilled to be there and the happiness can be seen in the pictures. What a waste.
That being said, I am happy to say I was there, rain delay or not.I'm not lost, but I don't know where I am...David Byrne, Talking Heads
