(CNN) -- It has all the elements of international intrigue: a violent confrontation on a detained North Korean ship, a suspected missile onboard, a heart attack and an attempted suicide.

Panamanian authorities on Tuesday were examining mysterious military equipment found aboard a ship headed from Cuba to North Korea, officials said.

The objects, discovered late Monday during an anti-drug inspection, appeared to have been hidden among a cargo of brown sugar, officials said.

Possibly, more likely however is their worry at what awaits them when they get back to North Korea

Per NPR this morning, it was carrying mid-20th century weapons like old AAA and a couple Migs. Cuba is claiming that they were sending them to N. Korea for repair/refit and expected them to be returned when they were operational.

Well for getting caught and yeah, ultimately losing the weapons. And I suppose showing the utter despair of the North Korean regime who feel the need to smuggle in weapons from Cuba, of all places.

The equivalent of ice hockey scouts going to Jamaica to sign the next Gretzky. Well not really I know, but you get the point.
