I love the lottery

Sorry, but with all of the other anti-lottery rants, I had to voice the other side. I have been lucky enough to see about 10-12 shows -- not nearly enough as my heart has desired, but not bad. BUT, it has never been easy. In the old ticketmaster days, I was never able to see them. When they did the independent ticket thing, I was never able to get tickets either. So, although I have been a HUGE fan since '92 I was never able to actually see them until 2000. During those 8 years or so, I would have given anything to see them live, but could never score tickets. Finally I saw them in 200 when I flew from Boston to Seattle to see the last 2 shows from that tour. I bought those tickets off of stubhub. Since then, I have seen maybe another 10 shows, but generally had to again resort to stubhub. I was lucky enough to also see them at Alpine, but the F5 debacle drove me nuts. I was able to somehow score GA seats for Wrigley and GA seats for my first choice this time, Hartford. I am obviously really fortunate here, but this was so much easier. I know that does not dull anyone's pain who didn't win, and I truly feel for those people. The next time around, I may very well not win and, of course, I will be majorly bummed out. But, I feel that this somehow makes up for all those years when I would have given a finger, maybe an arm, to get tickets. For now, I am thanking my lucky stars.

I like the system, but not the large GA section. Totally makes seniority pointless.

The number of 10C members is so high and the number of 10C seats available is so few that they needed to make a clean cut and find a fairer way for everybody to get tickets. I like the system, even though I never took part in any draw, but I think it may as well be inproved. There are many ways to improve this system I can think of right now and I'm sure the majority will hate them, so whatever decision is made won't please the majority.

The way I see it is simple: either you are drawn or not, what's wrong with that? if there's something wrong, is not the lottery system, it's something else. From what I read, the lottery system works for everybody the same way, even for those who weren't drawn.

The seniority system is obsolete in my opinion, but it could still work for certain tickets or certain shows. However, seniority reduces the chances of getting tickets for many fans, and no one is better or bigger fan because you are older, or you have been a memeber for over 10-15 years, or you can afford more tickets or buy as much stuff from 10C as you can, not even being analog makes anybody better or bigger fan than those who are digital. In fact, there are many fans who gives a fuck about the 10C, they are ok with the CD or the iTunes download, and those fans deserve a chance to get tickets too.

I only hope those who entered the lottery and were drawn for shows in cities far away have no issues and can afford the tickets and attend the shows, and those who weren't drawn for a concert in their town can get a ticket during the general sale.
... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...

I agree. I think if 10c members really cared about fairness, they would push for a system where no one wins multiple nights till everybody in the lottery gets 1. People might still not win, but at least you wouldn't have Joe with 3 wins and Tom and Mark with zero. You may not get your first or second choice, you may not get GA (which was a reason why some people, including myself, didn't win - I prioritized GA over reserved big time...I took a risk, and ended up winning 1, losing the others...), but you will get in the show...or not. There are too many 10c members for everyone to get tickets. That's a simple truth. But having so many fans getting multiple nights makes it even harder for others to get tickets...
