Ticket Lottery Statistics Survey

I'm interested in breaking down the outcome of the ticket drawing today. I created a survey at Survey Monkey that let's you do some pretty cool filtering with the results. What I'm mostly interested in is how many people chose a certain show as a specific choice versus how many actually won. This also allows you to view overall percentages, such as how many people chose a show for each choice, and how many people won specific choices.

The survey is here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PRVF9JT

Unfortunately, I'm the only one who has access to filter through the results (since I created the survey). However, if I pay for a month subscription I can share the results via a web URL and everyone will be able to filter through and check them out.

Of course, this relies on people actually going in and entering their results after the drawing today. Is this something you guys are interested in doing? If so, I don't mind paying the $17 for one month so that the results can be shared.

cool idea, you could post the data here for others to analyze rather than purchase a subscription for public access - that said, if you purchase a subscription, be sure to cancel after a month, otherwise they will continue to charge your credit card in subsequent months

I was thinking about this last night but thought it might be too late. I have a membership and could post the results if you want to shoot over the questions. It it's easier to pay the 17, then I'll just fill it out. I was interested in which shows people chose as #1 so others could balance their requests out.

Cool idea but can you only add 10 for each leg? I selected 15 for my 2nd leg. It would be interesting to see if anyone scored tickets with a very high pick.

Maybe think about adding a N/A option ... say if your #1 choice comes through, that could make your #2 or #3 choice not applicable (as opposed to losing).

Or at least people could not include any shows which weren't really a win nor loss.

I originally had it at 15, but I'm thinking it's probably not likely that we'll see any winners past 5. If we do it will likely be a few outliers, but if we do see a lot I can update the poll.

Good point - just added it to the poll!

  • Why would new members sign up if all of the tickets are going to the lifetime members? I've been a 10c member for over 5 years but that apparently gets me bupkiss on tickets. This system is fabulous, IMO. And I put Brooklyn as my 9/10 option. I probably didn't fill out the form in the most effective manner.

I put GA as my first option and reserved seating as my 2nd option. So I have 10 options total going from:
    Charlottesville (GA & R), Charlotte (GA & R), Baltimore (GA & R), Brooklyn (2 shows GA), Brooklyn (2 shows R)

Anyway, this system is much better than the one where I get in to get tickets but the site freezes up and my tickets expire before I can place my order. It also beats the one where the same people get all of the tickets.

Great idea. This could be the info most of us were looking for to some degree. In my case, we were only looking at 2 shows. The amount of other people trying for the same show would not have changed my choices.

    I entered my info.

I did this. Won Vancouver and Seattle reserved, so the GA choices for both shows were no longer applicable.

Just entered my info. Would love to see the stats.

This lottery is crazy. Was one for 10 (well, eight since I went for both NYC shows) in Leg One but two for two in Leg Two.

I don't want to complain, but I'm disappointed I didn't get more Leg One, specifically my two local shows. But based on what I've been reading, I should just be happy I received anything.

You won the lottery for both Brooklyn shows? I thought that wasn't possible.

    From the FAQ:

Q: If I enter for more than one show, can is it possible I can get selected for more than one show?

A: Yes, it's possible you can get selected for all of the shows you enter the drawing for, so please only enter for the shows you can afford to buy tickets to. Once your name is drawn, the non-refundable tickets get charged to your credit card immediately. The only exception is for shows with more than one date; Philly, Brooklyn, and Los Angeles. For these shows you can only possibly be selected for one or the other.

Honestly, I just don't get it. Some people are getting shut out completely while others luck out to the point that the rules set out by the 10C don't even seem to apply. I have no idea how this lottery works but the whole process seems rather strange. In any case, congratulations on your win(s).

On a related note, does anybody know how the lottery works? At first I thought they were only going to draw from members who made their 1st choices at each show, and work down the list but now I get the impression that they simply randomly drew 10C numbers and went down your priority list giving you the highest show available. In other words, if you had your name drawn several times early on you could in theory land 10+ shows but if your name was drawn late in the game you could miss out on all of your shows because they were all sold out.

No worries. I'm happy things worked out for you. I also scored the tickets I was looking for (just one show) so I'm not complaining. I'm just confused by the whole process at this point. The lottery seems even more random than the old system and I'm trying to figure out how everything works.

For Leg 1 I put in 12 choices - all four for both Brooklyn and Philly, knowing I can only win one of each, and both choices for Worcester and Hartford. Won Philly 1 (seats). So a 25% success rate.
