ALL THE TIME... thats so funny, me and my friends that i went with will just say it at weird times for no reason at all... great times!
  • Absolutely. Can't get it out of my head. I also loved how Eddie scrunched up his face in impersonating Tom when he told the Bridge story about his "ventriloquist act." It would have been awesome at that point if Ed had pulled a Petty dummy out of his suitcase and had it sing Won't Back Down.

"That song was written by Jeff Ament. He skateboarded all the way from Montana in order to get here tonight..........I swam."

"Tom Petty called; asked us to turn it down. Said he's got a big gig tomorrow."

"You drive for three fucking hours.....you can call me!!"

"there's a lot to be said for OUT HERE!"

"That's a helluva a back yard. That is a hell of a back yard!"

    "Helloooooo Tom. Come dowwwwn Tom."

All the time. Especially when someone says hello. So it happens a lot.
  • I'm now convinced that Ed performed some kind of mass hypnosis on us. That is the "trigger phrase".
  • No, but I am sure it will now. But I haven't listened to the boot straght through that much.

  • Yeah, I was eating at Quizno's the other day and "Won't back down" came on the radio. I let out a little "hellooooo Tom, comedown Tommmm". Luckily, not too many people heard me, but my gf got a good laugh out of it.

Yes. I undstand this one. I was listening to "into the great wide open", and "yer so bad" (two tom petty great ones) on my rhapsody playlist, and all of a sudden I hear Ed's voice in my head with the Gorge jammers echoing "Hellllloooo Tom, Come down, Tom" Even though I was not at the show either, I can picture the magic of that night in my head by rocking out to the boot. The name "tom" will never be the same again!! LOL.

  • I can't stop listening to the boot...

    makes me almost euphoric...

I want to live that entire day over again...

    with one small adjustment ;)

over and over and over again :)

My four-year-old (a budding PJ fan named after a band member and who shares Mr. McCready's bday) loves it. The first time we were listening to the boot in my truck, he started singing along. It is the cutest. He never lets me change the boot now (aw shucks). He asks me, "Tom- are they talking to Tom and Jerry?" I tried to explain, but just said he'd get it later.
Before my Gorge trip, he made the cutest plea to come with me-- "Daddy, I'VE NEVER seen Pearl Jam."
All I could say was, "Maybe next time."

I agree with the hypnosis theory because this show was every bit as magical as we all had hoped it would be....and now look at us....we can't stop talking about it and every little quirky thing about the show.......Such an amazing show it was! Thanks again Pearl Jam.....please come back to the Gorge!!!

Eddie kept talking about how much trouble it was for us to get out to the Gorge, and that it was alot to ask of us to go all that way.

HAHA! The journey is the best part I think! I love traveling over to the Gorge!

    Come back Ed!

    :D
  • yeah all that and tom never even came down.... darn

A Gorge show would be a great way to start the 2006 North American Tour :D

Next time I certainly want to make a camping trip of it... I could stay there forever :)
