Here's an ad-free version of the trailer:

It surprised me very much to hear Release, of all songs, to be on a movie soundtrack. Either PJ has a much more easy licensing attitude (especially for Release, the most personal of songs Ed has written) or this movie is so good that they agreed because of that. ...very much looking forward to it.

And yes, it sounds like different vocals, particularly you can hear Ed bend a note that he does in more recent years, but I don't recall that being done on the original or outtakes, though I could be wrong.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

. Ed rerecorded Release for the film. I've also heard that none of Eds new songs that he wrote for the film made it into the film. Supposedly he wrote 3.

Surprised we haven't heard anything about the soundtrack for this. Movie is out in a month.

Unfortunately I'm hearing that none of ed's new songs made it into the film.

Which means they'll make it to the next PJ album.

They must have thought Man of the hour of Big Fish wasn't worth mentioning.

saw this last night. Cool to hear Release in the begining and end of the movie. Movie itself was ok, some parts dragged I thought and the movie felt longer than 2 hours. Acting was ok, Woody Harrelson was great and Christian Bale was good. The fight scenes I thought were well done.

DVD release date is March 11th. I didn't catch it in theatres and have been waiting to watch it since this thread started.

While it says soundtrack, I think that is actually the score of the the movie.

Release is played within the first five minutes of the movie....

and at the end while the credits are played...

odd it never made it to the soundtrack imo

The director said that Ed's music was so good that it disrupted the movie, took the viewer out of the narrative.

That is amazing. It was moving to hear it in the beginning and the end. I think the two instances where it was played were perfect.

He was talking about Release, not the EV solo stuff that was cut.

I saw the movie in theaters and I loved it
  • I watched it this past weekend. I thought that it was a really good movie (although depressing as shit). Kinda reminds me of Deer Hunter if they stayed in Pittsburgh. Given how dark/depressing it is, can't imagine what Ed came up with and hopefully it comes out someday soon!
