Helping a brother out

I normally wouldn't think of doing this, but this project is pretty important to me and my family and thought I would post it here simply because it is where I am most active and I wouldn't want to bother people I don't have some sort of arguing relationship with.

My father died having painted on trash, garbage, and canvas for the last few years of his life. He was pretty tormented mentally (IMO, others disagree) but one thing that he loved to do and showed a lot of how he felt about himself was his art. It is chaotic, beautiful and sometimes disturbing. But his honest to god last wish was to get it out to the world somehow and some way. My younger brother has taken the lead on this because he is bitten by the art bug as well. He is extremely talented in multiple facets and wants to explore those to find the best way to get out the word about my father's collection.

Take a look, if it is in your bag that is great, if it isn't, take a look at his stuff anyway, because it is pretty damn cool. I wish I had something to offer you all in return, but all I can do is say thanks in advance for even bothering to click on the link.

Mods, if this is wrong to do, please delete the post, I have literally no other electronic outlets as I don't facebook or twitter/tweet.

Why does this feel so awkward for me to do?

    Same here.

I really liked the piece toward the end of the link.

Don't feel awkward, Mike (though I understand the feeling); one of the things I love about the people here is their ability to reach out when needed, and to accept all - most? - forms of reciprocation.

Your dad sounds like he was an amazing man and, going by what I've seen you post, a good father as well.

Wishing your family well in this endeavor.

Oh man, Mike, what your dad did is great stuff and I'm a fan of kickstarter. I'm very happy to pitch in. Thanks for being brave and putting this out there. I'm looking forward to hearing more about the project.

Once you donate to a kickstarter project they keep you posted via email but meanwhile let's make sure this gets an occasional bump. Way to go, Mike.

wow mike that is awesome. your dad had some serious talent. in your post you had said that he was tormented mentally, but they say most great art comes from people who are tormented in some way. i never knew him, but as an outsider i view him as gifted.

your brother did a really nice job with the video as well. i watched it earlier and he had already met his goal so he is gonna have to set a new one i think...

thanks for sharing and i will be glad to help out!

because as an anti-socialist - you feel it is hypocritical to ask the collective for help ...:lol: ... just kidding ... i don't like soliciting donations either ...

    i contributed ... good luck ..

In all seriousness to those followed the link to even look at it and to those who contributed I thank you very much. He was able to reach his goal and I will definitely keep you guys posted. And for those that got his album, let me know what you think...I am a bit biased so others real opinions and criticisms are always nice for him to hear.
