Go with the Northeast. Travel will be easier and you will have plenty of shows to choose from. Boston, Hartford, NYC, Philly...so on and so forth.

Depends what you're into. If you like huge metro areas go to the NE and hit up NYC, Boston, Philly, DC, etc. Lots of awesome cities with more than enough to keep you entertained. and it's easy to get to the next spot due to the close proximity.

If you're more into nature, scenic drives, etc, I think the West is pretty. Parts of Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington are all beautiful states. Granted you might only get 2-4 shows out of a huge West trip ,and the distances driven are long and you might consider flights between the major cities. If I had 2 weeks off to explore the US and see PJ shows this is what I would do.

The South is nice too but way more spread out and we aren't going to get more than 1-2 shows max so I wouldn't even research it.

it depends on where they play and how long you will be here. East coast and seattle will be the hardest and most expensive tickets to get. But, Philly, Boston, and NY are some of the best cities in the US to visit. If vegas gets a show, it will also likely be difficult. Red Rocks would be epic - if they play there it would likely be several shows.

Assuming they play houston/Dallas, that would be a good place to start. United Airlines has a hub in houston and American Airlines is based in Dallas, so getting to either city should be easy from anywhere in the world. If both cities get shows, you could fly into either city then take a flight on Southwest airlines to the other - they will likely be on consecutive nights. Let's not forget, Austin could get a show too. Flights around Texas on Southwest are very cheap ($100/one way tickets with proper notice) and the flights are only 30-40 minutes. southwest is based in Texas and flies direct damn near everywhere in this region. you could likely catch a direct and inexpensive flight to another city after doing the texas shows. Dallas and Houston have nice downtown arenas. Austin is one of the coolest cities in America.

i am not a fan of festival shows, but if the timing works and you are going to several shows, NOLA is a great city to visit for Voodoo!

If they hit the following cities, they are only 3 hours apart:

Vancouver, BC (there is a Vancouver in Washington State as well-they like to be confusing)
    Seattle, WA
    Portland, OR

then I would fly to San Fran from Portland, and then another hopper flight to LA (those are like 60-90 minute flights)

    BOOM west coast done.

    Mags,

Where would you think you would like to go. Like some people stated, the north east will be your best chance of seeing PJ without wasting a ton of time traveling too far. Philly is 2 hrs from NY which is 2 hrs to Hartford which is less than 2 hrs to Boston . Newark & the meadowlands are a 1/2 hr away from NYC. With Maryland & DC 2+ hrs from Philly. All these are great places to visit with plenty to do & see, we'll maybe not philly  or Hartford :o . Let me know what your thinking of doing & I can help from there. I'll go into other parts of the US if you want to know more, let me know what you think first. I'll help anytime  . Just pm me ;) .

Agree...but if The Gorge or Red Rocks are on the list, I'd definitely try for those venues! Nothing like either one of them. But if you want the most shows in the shortest period of time with big cities, go for what themessenger said, the Northeast!
I'll ride the wave where it takes me...

Having been to NYC for a concert, I'd take that option again over Red Rocks or the Gorge, just because it's NYC, which is, IMO, just so much fun outside of whatever concert you're seeing! Not that I wouldn't love to go to the other two venues, of course, but for me, if I had to pick one of the 3 it would be no contest.
