    All around the news here.

I can't imagine the situation where this fire overtook these highly trained (best in the country) experts!

    So sad!

just saw this story this morning. absolutely horrible. thoughts and prayers to all of those and their families and everyone in those areas affected by these fires. makes complaining about the rain this morning seem so trivial.

It really puts me in mind of the South Canyon fire in Colorado July 5, 1994. 14 hotshots were killed when the winds picked up and the fire surrounded them. We stopped and looked at the memorial just last month. It is such a dangerous job, and the firefighters are usually really young and paid very little. Those of us in the West really owe a debt to these brave young men and women.
And the sun it may be shining . . . but there's an ocean in my eyes

    true heroes

wild fires are at their worst this year and will continue to get worse in coming years
if this one can trap and kill 19 people that were highly trained to fight it, normal people and all that wildlife are fucked
fuck 'em if they can't take a joke

And here I am bitching because our AC is out.

Thanks for the needed perspective on both of your posts.
