Looking to purchase a laptop - suggestions welcomed

Hello,
I'm looking go purchase a laptop in the near future. I was originally focusing on ultrabooks exclusively: Asus Zenbook 31A, Sony Vaio PRO 13, Samsung Series 7, and a Macbook Air.
I've used Windows at home for years and a combination of Windows and Mac OS's at work for the better part of the past decade.
This morning I discovered Apple has a refurbished section go their online store that has led me to narrow my options down to the Samsung Series 7 Ultrabook, and two refurbished models: a 2012 Macbook Air and a 2013 Macbook Pro.
Please contribute your constructive feedback to this thread as I'd like to make the most informed decision possible before spending a significant amount of money. Thank you very much for your time, efforts, opinions, and sharing your experiences.
