Other shows in London around June 18th

edited May 2007 in Given To Fly (live)
There are a number of good shows taking place the week of the Pearl Jam concert on the 18th. Here's a list of some that may be of interest.

June 15th...Badly Drawn Boy, Antibalas (plan on attending, but will need to arrange transport to Brighton)
June 16th...Muse, Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem
June 17th...Muse (attending for sure), Kaiser Chiefs, INXS
June 18th...Jams on your face
June 19th...Ozzy, New Pornographers (can someone give a more in-depth description of this group other than what I can find online? I love the Borderline venue as well as some of Neko Case's work), Zakk Wylde's
June 20th...New Pornographers
June 21st...English Beat, Type O Negative, INXS (I'm heading to Dusseldorf for Jams regardless)
June 22nd...Fogerty (still chilling in Dusseldorf anyhow)
June 23rd...Jools Holland (in-depth description please?), Peter Gabriel (oh, I would love to finally see him perform), Crowded House
June 24th...Aerosmith, Chris Cornell, Charlie Musselwhite (I'll see Mussewhite if I stick around this night)

Please feel free to add to this list if there's another act you think deserves mention. The descriptions I've found online for some of these bands probably do not do them justice, so I'd rather hear from other fans.

At this point, I would really like to see Antibalas, Muse, New Pornographers (if recommended, just because of the Borderline), Peter Gabriel and Charlie Musselwhite in addition to the Jams shows. Of these groups, I'm probably least likely to see the New Pornographers.

Good times.

Crap. More stuff to spend money on. Can my wallet (or money belt) last the distance?

If I spend an afternoon and an evening on this, then that's one less day to see London. But man, a show in Hyde Park, when I just so happen to be in town. How many of these opportunities am I gonna get?

    Oh, decisions.

If this doesn't sell out, guess I can always just rock up and pick up tix from the gate.

There's also Riders On The Storm on the 15th.
I think I'm gonna go check that out. :)
I've decided I don't even care who's singing...I just really wanna see the remaining members perform. :p

The New Pornographers are really, really good. Great melodic pop, I suppose would be the best way to describe them. I think I saw them in the Borderline in 2005 and it was brilliant. Very much recommended.
    Hey hey it's okay...

I'm going to the Wireless festival in Hyde Park on the 17th. Kaiser Chiefs and Editors, you can't go wrong.

The way I see, I've visited London twice and it will always be there. I've never seen Peter Gabriel perform and the opportunities may come few and far between. He's also starting to get old, so who knows how much longer he'll be around and doing concerts.

What's the best way to get tickets for this show? I was originally planning to just buy some outside the park from someone with extras.
  • Fyi, noticed that Ticketbastard can only guarantee shipping of the Peter Gabriel tickets by 48 hours of the show...not going to work for those of us going to see the jams. I wish there was a 5-day deliver option or something. Are the prospects good for landing a ticket outside the gates?

    ???

What, they can only mail out the tickets from within 48hours of the show starting? Is that what you mean?

    Fuck that off.

I imagine Daft Punk will have quite a crowd...probably plenty of ladies getting their groove on...don't care much for the music, but I may have to join the fun...should be a hell of a good time.

Didn't think about this when I booked tickets for the Sunday, I just called ticketmaster though and they said if I haven't received them by the time I have to leave to give them a call and they will sort out a collection for me.
I had a bit of a panic there for a moment but all is now well again.
    Astoria 20/04/06, Leeds 25/08/06, Prague 22/09/06, Wembley 18/06/07,
    Dusseldorf 21/06/07, Manchester 17/08/09, London 18/08/09, LA 06/10/09, LA 07/10/09.

Ain't gonna be any middle anymore.
  • If anyone has any ideas for landing two tickets to see The New Pornographers at Borderline on June 19th, please let me know. I missed the sale and this show is sold out.

It would be nice to have tickets arranged before arriving in London, but I suppose I can make it happen once I arrive.

I've already put up a post on Craig's List and on The New Pornographers website.

    Thanks
