10 years, 7 months and 7 days
Can you believe that PJ has released just two studio albums of new material in the last 10 years, 7 months and 7 days? I remember when Jeff said in the mid-'90s that he hoped PJ would "be like Neil Young and put out a record a year."
This is not intended as a criticism. The muse inspires when she inspires. It just kind of amazed me to realize just how little new material has been released over the last decade-plus.

So that is 1 of the 2 albums — that and Backspacer. Basically their 3d to last album — Riot Act — came out 10 years, 7 months and 8 days ago.0 -
Yeah when you put it that way, it seems crazy. And considering how short (and disappointing) Backspacer was, it seems even crazier. You'd think they'd continue to put out work more consistently. But that's what happens to a lot of artists/bands as they get older. Well at least they're still together and a new album is on the way. But wow, almost 10 years with only 2 albums of new work :shock:5/2/2003 - Buffalo, NY

yea but how many bootlegs in that time? Which don't necessarily have new material, granted, but I feel like the bootlegs are their own experience.NYC 06/24/08-Auckland 11/27/09-Chch 11/29/09-Newark 05/18/10-Atlanta 09/22/12-Chicago 07/19/13-Brooklyn 10/18/13 & 10/19/13-Hartford 10/25/13-Baltimore 10/27/13-Auckland 1/17/14-GC 1/19/14-Melbourne 1/24/14-Sydney 1/26/14-Amsterdam 6/16/14 & 6/17/14-Milan 6/20/14-Berlin 6/26/14-Leeds 7/8/14-Milton Keynes 7/11/14-St. Louis 10/3/14-NYC 9/26/15

It sounds like a bad front page Yahoo.com article when you paste it like that. Seems unfair to say 2 albums in 10 years, 7 months, and 7 days when they've put out 3 albums in 10 years, 7 months, and 8 days...lol... Sounds like the new one is out this year.. Averaging an album every 3-4 years.. not bad for a band in the midst of entering their 50s?
Sure Jeff said that in the 90s. I'm pretty sure I was more ambitious in the 90s too

Hahaha. Well said.
This complaint is kind of getting old. 2002-2013. 4 albums. It is not as bad as people say. Quality over quantity. What's your part, who you are?
2012: Arras, Berlin 1-2
2013: Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires
2014: Milano, Trieste, Vienna, Berlin
2016: NY MSG 10 -
I agree. While I would have like the next album to come out at least by early this year it's quality over quantity. I like Backspacer but there's a large group that doesn't. How great would the other 5-7 albums they "would" have put out been? Maybe all of them would be great, maybe there would be a lot of filler.
And of course then everyone would complain about setlists because there would be 50-60 more songs and they never play Even Flow anymore.
We are getting an album at some point this year. That's exciting enough for me.0 -
Look at U2...Zooropa (1993), Pop (1997), All You Can't Leave Behind (2000), Atomic Bomb (2004), Horizon (2009)...that's about 5 albums in 20 years.
I would rather wait a little longer (4+ years) to hear a GREAT Pearl Jam album, than 2 years to get an OK album. The days of an album every 1 1/2 to 2 years are long gone.

+1Hey, hey. My, my. Rock and roll can never die.
