Yeah gin is standard although I like the vodka version.
Vermouth is the biggest difference. I like them super dry to a tiny, tiny bit of vermouth goes in.
Yeah, when I make them at home, I'll put the ice in the shaker, splash in some vermouth, shake and dump it all out. Whatever clings to the ice is enough vermouth for me!
I have shit for knowledge about cocktails, let alone a martini.
