I received an email from a concert promoter friend this morning telling me about the Replacements show in Toronto. My day started with me buying a ticket while in bed. Today is a good day!

One of the best and most influential bands there is.

Listen to the first 3 songs of Pleased to Meet Me LOUD if you don't know them

Saw this on P.W.'s Man Without Ties forum. Both good and unsettling news. The last tour Paul Westerberg did was hard on him. I met Paul after the San Francisco show- only the third show of that tour- and he was already pretty roughed up. He's rather have been home being dad and little league coach.

The show last night was unbelievably good. 23 songs were played and each sounded great. The band had their shit together and Paul's voice was perfect. I really hope I'll get to see them again in the near future.

    The setlist (courtesy of setlist.fm):

Takin' a Ride, I'm in Trouble, Favorite Thing, Hangin’ Downtown , Color Me Impressed, Tommy Gets His Tonsils Out / Third Stone From the Sun (The Jimi Hendrix Experience cover), Kiss Me on the Bus, Androgynous, Achin' to Be, I Will Dare, Love You Till Friday, Maybellene (Chuck Berry cover), Merry Go Round, Wake Up , Borstal Breakout (Sham 69 cover), Little Mascara, Left of the Dial, Alex Chilton, Swingin Party, Can't Hardly Wait, Bastards of Young

Encore: Everything's Coming Up Roses, I.O.U.

So cool you got to see the show!

I love the Little Mascara/LOTD/Alex Chilton trifecta!
I am hoping they do a full tour, or perhaps Coachella next year!

I so want to see another show soon. They were sounding real tight. Merchandise, too, was good. Unfortunately I didn't snap any pics last night.

I'll miss these shows and it will be somewhat like the "Best Thing That Never Happened".

some site, maybe slicingupeyeballs, was streaming the show last week but separated each song. so i can't tell if i've remembered wrong, or if the banter got cut, because it was much shorter online, but i would have sworn paul introduced josh along the lines of "ladies and gents, one of the best drummers i could find on 2 days notice..."
