There is a Tax for You Hybrid Owners as Well ?
Godfather.

RALEIGH, N.C. – North Carolina is joining a growing number of states exploring new fees for hybrid and electric car owners to help make up for revenue those drivers aren't paying in gas taxes on their fuel-efficient vehicles.
The proposal strikes many owners of alternative-fuel vehicles and some advocacy groups as a wrong-headed approach to balancing priorities of promoting U.S. energy independence with sustainable infrastructure funding. But policymakers and some experts argue taxing hybrid and electric vehicle owners is a matter of making sure all drivers help maintain the roads they use and construct new ones.

it'll be called the i'm not fat tax ... states will start taxing people who eat healthy and engage in healthy lifestyles ... without millions of americans getting sick and requiring long term care ... our hospitals are losing money as well as insurance companies and drug manufacturers ... they have cut staff and taxes related to those revenues are down ... new tax!
Not plausible though. With the amount of Golden Corrals and Papa John's... and a lack of will to change sedentary and gluttonous lifestyles... hospitals are definitely a viable industry for the near future worthy of investment.
Now that you got me thinking about it, it sucks to pay high premiums because some of our neighbours cannot stay away from the trough and/or need to smoke their brains out. At least in Canada, cigarettes are taxed heavily and manage to offset some of the health care costs associated with the nicotine habit.

Roads aren't cheap, so what would you suggest be done to help pay for them?
(And hey! Can we tax people for sheer stupidity? We'd be in the black, I tell ya)

I was just going to say, :You can tax my feet".
But seriously- those damn hybrid owners not using up their fair share of gas. Who do they think they are anyway? Damn them environmentalists!
the excuse given to pay for roads is non-sense in my opinion do you really think that hybrids have have really made a big enough impact to merit a "special tax"? and gas is not the only thing taxed to pay for roads and road repair, this is just another example of our governments misuse of power...hell soon enough there might be a fart tax for the unlicenced use of methane gas
American and overseas auto ind. did as our government asked and created a car that gets X miles per gallon and now they will make the people who buy these cars pay for trying to do the right thing with our economy and eco worries.
Godfather.
Increase the Gasoline Tax. Make those who feel it is okay to drive a car that gets 8 mile per gallon pay for that feeling. They can still drive their gas guzzler... they will just have to pay for it.
Also, increase the annual registation fees based on the vehicle's curb weight. The heavier the vehicle, the tougher it is on the roads.
Hail, Hail!!!
energy efficient appliances have to be costing someone something...TAX THEM!!!
