Oh sure, just let her hang out in the on-site day care center.

As stupid as that sounds, it would be really cool to have a "kids" section. As the "old school" fans grow up, a lot of them will be having kids.

That really sucks! Even I think 1 year old is too young though.

Just wondering what the consensus is. I'm thinking about bringing my 3 and a half year old daughter to St Paul night one. She would obviously be wearing the big ear muffs and i have a crappy ten club # so I will probably be getting seats in the wings so she should be able to see. Is she too young? After reading that other thread about all the puking, I'm not sure if I want to expose her to that stuff (never mind all the pot and booze). I've been to quite a few shows and for the most part been seated around nice people. Any thoughts? Any one else ever bring someone this young?

Here's a good thread to read for some more perspective:

Why in the HELL would you bring a kid that young? No matter if you put ear plugs in their ears, they're gonna hate the LOUD NOISE!

Did you even have to ask that question?

  • In the nicest possible way...
you'd have to be crazy to do that.
    She would hate it...
looking after her will prevent you from having a good time...

In about ten years, when she is old enough to appreciate music
it'll be a great way for the two of you to bond.

i brought my two kids 3 and 1.5 to camden 1st night. the kids were great. people were mostly great. hope your kids have fun and you also of course.

When I was at the Indy show in 2003, I sat next to a woman who brought two little boys to the show...one was about 2 and one was about 4. They had the earmuff things on. The two year old went to sleep and the 4 year old rocked harder than 1/2 the people around us...the entire show.

I think it would definitley work if you had 10C tix and then a few lawn seats at a venue like maybe...SPAC. Then your wife and the kids could hang at the lawn and CHILL...and you could visit them when you wanted...and the kids could lie down on the blankie and nap...or whatever! (Unless the wather was bad...wouldn't work then....)
  • last tour--they were 7 and 9 yrs. My 7 yr. old was down in front with me(10c. seats) and he was sleeping toward the middle of the show(but he goes to bed early on his own anyway), until I woke him for the encores. I'd say wait until your kids are at least 7 to 10.

My daughter is going to be 26 this year. But when she was little, I did take her to a few shows, but at different kind of venues. I didnt take her to an arena show till she was like 13. When they are toddlers, so many bad things can happen to them. She can get stepped on, pushed, spilled on, and it would all be accidental. I wouldnt take the chance yet. She would most likely be scared. Wait a few years. When she is a teenager, and you can go together with her, it will be a bonding thing that will be great. Enjoy this time with her, it goes so fast. I know everyone says that stuff, but its true. My daughter lives about 1500 miles away from me know, and it is hell. I am happy for her and happy for my new found 'freedom', but I cherish those memories when she was my little pumpkin lovebug. Good luck. Love & Peace, Rose

My son sang PJ songs when he was three (Not for You and Alive were his favorites). But I would never take a kid that young to loud rock show.

He's now seen three shows (MSG 03 and NJ 06) but he's 14.

I think 10 or 11 is about the right age.

Rock concerts are not for young kids. At Camden 1 a guy had a young kid with him and I couldn't help but think of all the things he was being exposed to that he shouldn't be (pot, swearing, drunk idiots, $4 hot dogs, etc). The poor kid looked traumatized.

    $4 hot dogs?!

What is wrong with some people, exposing a child to such ...autrosities?

I can only hope that that child recovered...

I wouldn't take the child at that age. 9 or 10 years old, I could see it.
If it was a festival then you'd probably be better off.

3.5 year olds can barely sit through a 30 min cartoon. Besides you'll be catering to the kid the whole time instead of enjoying the show (i.e. bathroom breaks, temper tantrums, beer being spilled on the kid, etc.). I'm thinking, if you are asking on here, you don't think it's that great of an idea either.

In short...it's bad enough dealing with drunks.

:o I would flat out refuse to babysit. It's only your nephew and you probably didn't force your sister/brother to have a baby ^^
  • I started this thread over 5 years ago, and my 3 and half year old is now 8 and a half and will be going to her first concert at the Sept. 17th Winnipeg show. I'm so excited that her first show will be Pearl Jam and not some fad (justin bieber, katy perry, myley cyrus etc...). I really can't believe this thread is still going!
