he took his first steps
a road made of skulls
his pack slung over shoulder
he moved on
into the unknown
the sun
meeting the curve of the earth
dipping into the clouds made of fire
he forged on
determination seeped from his pores
only realizing days into his pilgrimage
this journey began
long before his first step


(for my nephew, Matthew a.k.a "Cheese")
