Drivers on Interstate 405 near Culver City, Calif., may have noticed something odd recently: a billboard advertising... Adolf Hitler?

That's at least what some on Twitter and Reddit have pointed out regarding a new J.C. Penney advertisement alongside the highway. Take a look for yourself; the tea kettle does bear a striking resemblance to the infamous Nazi leader.

Was Hitler ever featured on South Park? Imagine he was at one point and that is pretty much what he looked like.

I can totally see Hitler's mom saying "Adolph, you've got an Alfalfa thing going on there with the hair...c'mere"

*spit-shine* as only a mother can do

"OK son, now go out there and make me proud"

(A does the "oh MOM" thing, kicks the dirt, then reluctantly faces the masses)

    Thus far we have:
    -A new South Park character,
-A major department store drawing controversy (a more serious answer but it does give one pause to wonder) or
-Adolf's mommie trying to lick down that afalfa-like tuft of hair.

Impressive answers so far! Keep 'em comin'!

Spittin' image! See, it's not a Hitler teapot. It's a Cartman dressed as Hitler teapot. Totally not the same thing.

(I think this story is hilarious.... plus I kind of want the teapot (sans Hitler reflection trick). What is that, a bell on the spout? Does that mean a bell rings when it boils, instead of it screaming? I like that!)

This thread is making me chuckle. Can't take it seriously! I do love Graves's kettles though...

    Another 'interpretation' of Hitler

I think it looks more like Mr. Belvedere with that bell in his hand.

I think Jordan made a prop bet in Vegas that he could pull off the Hitler mustache in a TV ad.

    I'm guessing he made $10M.

not when trying to come back from the brink of closing. And after losing over 500 Million last year, plus all they put into revamping their stores? On the heels of being one of the few named companies that contracted with that factory in Bangladesh?

Fuck man, I hope not. My compnay contracts to deliver to their stores from their distribution centers. I make pretty good money. I HOPE they recover, becuase my job is easy for wehat I get paid.

    I'd be Fuhrer-ious!

I probably wouldn't have even noticed the likeness had it not been mentioned. It's just a shame it can't be chalked up to coincidence rather than attention-seeking.

I dunno. I too hope JCP hangs on if they're able; they're one of the last retail dinosaurs left. Them going down would affect so many (not only their employees, either, as you pointed out above).

Probably wouldn't hurt to get their shit together either.

It's clearly a tea kettle AND Hitler and I'd like to believe it was accidental. It's like when someone sees the face of Jesus on a potato or something though, isn't it?

Yes, I think so. I really don't think it was intentional.... it's like the man in the moon. Some people just can't see it for years, but when they finally do, it's so obvious, they can't believe they never saw it before... or like one of those hidden art things from the 90s.

I saw a Mickey Mouse face on a wall once. Oh but wait, I think it had something to do with a brownie I ate.

Upon further "google" review, we have changed the call from steam or whatever to bell. May as well be a hand then. he he

 It's not for kids. I just assumed it was fan merchandise, since the movie is definitely not for children. Pretty sure they have Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction merch too, somewhere... :)
