As this didn't get a whole lot of views on AET, I'll repost here:

The trial has thus far treated 23 patients with Dry AMD and Stargardt's disease, most experiencing some from of vision improvement and no safety issues (first patients were treated 2 yrs ago). This particular patient went from 20/400 vision to 20/40! Probably due to dormant photoreceptors and a healthier Bruch's membrane.
There is currently no treatment available for Dry AMD (age related macular degeneration)...affects millions worldwide...these RPE cells have so far been able to halt the progression of the disease and even reverse it (drastically in some cases).
A recent change in the trial design was approved by the FDA to expand into less progressed patients (20/100 vision to start).
