Adelaide BIG DAY OUT 2014
There isn't a great deal I buy blindly these days. Music is too numerous and too expensive to do so. That being said some artists who never disappoint:
Pearl Jam
Soundgarden
Tom Waits
Mudhoney
Mark Lanegan
Ludovico Einaudi
I bought the new The National today without hearing any of it. I'm spinning it now & liking it. Will play it again loud asap! For some reason I did look up reviews when I was listening to it & see there are 2 scathing reviews in the media here in NZ.
As for other artists I buy without hearing 1st - PJ, SG, PJ Harvey, just bought The White Stripes back catalogue(yep, I was a bit slow getting onto that one), Uncle Neil..... plenty of others I can't think of right now. Mind you it doesn't happen as often as it used to. It's so easy to check things out 1st now. I've done it the other way plenty though, checked stuff out online, thought oh yeah that sounds good, bought it, given it a spin & then pretty well never listened to it again.

PJ - Auckland 2009; Alpine Valley1&2 2011; Man1, Am'dam1&2, Berlin1&2, Stockholm, Oslo & Copenhagen 2012; LA, Oakland, Portland, Spokane, Calgary, Vancouver, Seattle 2013; Auckland 2014, Auckland1&2 2024
EV - Canberra, Newcastle & Sydney 1&2 2011
I have only bought 2 albums ever after hearing it first. I just go for it and can always find enjoyment even if the album does not live up to my expectations.
i don't preview anything before i buy it. its not like it's a big money loss if it doesn't work out...and, for the most part i don't buy unless i already either KNOW and/or have a HUNCH that it will be good OR the band is on my top 25 list
I'm in the never previewed before purchased group. Part of the album buying experience for me is that gamble of an anticipated release and not knowing anything else from the album aside from a review or two and it's album art.

The bands, or a band member always leaks some tracks on twitter or sound cloud or I get an email.
Stone is sharing every Moonlander track on sound cloud and that is just awesome, because I was really surprised.
this track is so quirky and funky, It gets stuck in your head, like an ear worm
