We found our prizes in vacant lots
they were worth something to us
do you remember those fragile round ones?
the clever seed pods of dandelions
soft, white, space ships
but organic, not metallic
slowly floating or quickly blowing
dependent on current environment
small air craft with dream-fulfillment-potential!
we ruthlessly ripped as many stems as we saw
till it was time to "Make your wish!"
when we were small, we seriously considered what to hope for
before we blew them away
all the kids sent up their our own wish flowers
