Hey all,

I am looking for a camera to go to Europe with. I am looking at either a digital or DSLR.

I am not a serious photographer (yet) but am willing to try and learn before my trip. But hearing mixed things about people taking DSLR, that it can be difficult to carry and should be a good photographer.

I have never really traveled before so I am a bit of newby.

Thanks

I know when I went to Europe last year I ended up just using the camera in my phone. It's specs are as good as my digital camera, mind you if you're considering a DSLR I guess that's in a different league. I have a pre-digital SLR from my photography days that's, ahem, gone mouldy! :o :?

Anyway, main thing I thought to pass on is on my trips away over the last couple of years I've worked out in terms of putting stuff up on Facebook(not sure if that's you thing) it's best/easiest I find to edit in the camera/phone before posting.

So just a little thing I've found a good way to go. Not sure of appropriate to your situation but there you go. Happy travels. :)

If you plan on walking around a lot, which you probably will regardless of how much you think you will, you don't want to be lugging around a SLR camera.

We left ours at home, instead opting to pickup a new point and shoot before we left. I'm glad we went with that option. Between the camera and the cameras on my phones, I had plenty of good quality pictures to look at after we got back.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

I like my GoPro, but it doesnt have a viewfinder or zoom. So, its really only good to take a zillion pics and clean 'em up later if you've got photoshop or something. it actaully takes decent pics, its tiny, and waterproof too (if that means anything to ya)
Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)

This person has it! The more camera's the better. My friend asked his Iphone for directions to a camera store.

Suri said , "You already have a quality camera." I looked it up on my droid, and it told me. So We got 3 cameras! good for 4,000 pictures with out having to upload.

My old sckool Pentax can take 24 pictures on a roll of film and maybe 2 of them are good. It breaks and film is fickle. It's heavy and only a hobby at this point.
