i thought he took my batteries but, when i got home i loOked he deleted all my seattle and friends WEDDING PHOTOS.I HAVE NO COPIES OF THEM AT ALL. all my good memories are now gone. i am so deeply disturbed by this. when ed said no flash i went to put it away and this sercurity came up to me and everyone was flashing like the paparazzi. this was totally wrong. anyway i have a pic of the security guy i will see if hes at lolla tonight. believe me i will talk to him nicely cause i am too nice of a person but i am going to tell him what i think of him. im wondering if he is the vic security or pjs. id like to know. my friend know the manager at the vic so i might call him. if pj does not want photos at there show please tell us not to bring cameras. theres no way a photo will come out with no flash anyway i guess it doesnt matter i could kiss all my good photos away that were ImPORTANT to me. it is not fair. also i thought the vic security was horrible. they did a rusty job. the show was wonderful i enjoyed myself. they played a good set. the band was really on. dont get me wrong i know the flash is bad but, u didnt have to delete all my photos.

oh, poor you, you got to go to the vic show, but the pictures you should have saved to your computer long ago got deleted... (is what people would say if this was Expresso Beans, but this is the Pearl Jam message pit, where there is much more love)

JUST KIDDING! That sucks, I can't believe the dude actually deleted your pictures... THAT IS INSANE! If cameras were allowed, I believe you have the right to be REALLY pissed...

You can probably get your photos back, they can usually be recovered from the memory card you used. just dont take anymore photos using that memory card or it will overwrite the files. contact whoever made the memory card and see if they have some free software to recover the files.

there is probably some 3rd party software out there for this also.

I agree, wouldn't that fall under "destroying personal property" or something along those lines?
  • Having taken photography class I have to say one thing.. I agree it sucks and some of the security guys were jerks...

a typical digital camera flash does NO good unless you are VERY close to the subject.. like no farther than 3rd or 4th row. After that the flash is useless unless you like to see bright heads just in front of you.

more so invasion of privacy i think. you just aren't allowed to do something like that, even if he didn't look through the pictures. the reasonable solution would've been to ask to stop taking pictures. after that, maybe confiscate the camera. but he had no business deleting the pictures on there, especially considering we all know the camera policy. you probably have a good lawsuit here.

    Wow, what an ass!

If he is vic's security, you should just call the vic and speak to head of security, get his ass fired at least.

Sorry this happend to you :(

Efroten is right!!! You can get all your photos back -- including your PJ photos. If you have a Mac, I'd highly recommend "Photorescue," which you can find at Versiontracker.com. I used that program to recover 40 GIGs worth of photos from a hard drive -- when all it's designed for is memory cards. If you want to send me your card, I'd be happy to do it for you.

My wife accidentally deleted about 97 photos of our daughter from the time she was born(10 weeks early, by the way), to 3 months old(baptism). These were the only pics we had of her from the hospital onward. Try the program
    CardRecovery v3.30
I think it cost 30-40 dollars but of course some pics are priceless so it was worth it to us. It restored about 85 to the original pics, only about 10 didn't look right after recovery. The IMPORTANT thing is to not take any more pics, if you can't figure out the program find a techie friend who can or call around to photo places, I'm sure some of them have programs to recover also.
Good Luck! Hope you can get them back.

i thought i lost all of my gorge/seattle pictures last year. my card got corrupted and started overwriting itself, but i sent it away to this recovery place and they were able to restore @1/2 of them...
as people were saying, you can probably get them all back with the right software!

The below post by ponner1us is correct.

I accidentally erased one picture off my fathers camera that he wanted.

FIRST OF ALL - do NOT take any more pictures on THAT card.

Apparently when you erase ANY picture - you're NOT actually erasing them... (which takes time). Your camera is actually just making them invisible and marking them over-writeable.

This means that they're still there, until you take more pictures... one by one, each picture you take over-writes another "deleted" picture.

There are programs which you can un-hide the picture icons, and recover them with.

I got ALL the pictures which were marked as "erased" back.

Good luck! You can do it!

that's pretty bad, but for future reference your photos will come out wayyy better if you use a high iso and no flash, I can totally understand how the band would prefer not to be blinded by flashs for an entire concert but this does not condone what that asshole did :(

Do you work for Rolling Stone? Leave the camera at home!

Honestly, though, I really hope you can recover those pics. I just get aggravated when I'm at a show and someone in front of me is snapping away like they're at a goddamn wedding.

He was an asshole for deleting them, but a lawsuit? You people are nuts!!! I'm sure this is something that happens often enough when it's a security sensitive situation, or a place/time when photography is PROHIBITED! In this case, the OP could have been taking pics WITHOUT the flash and abided by the rules, but they chose not to. Calling and complaining to the Vic is reasonable, but you'd probably be laughed at for trying to sue.

i agree, threatening with a lawsuit is laughable. if it were me, i'd talk to head of security at the venue politely and see if there's a possibility of them paying for the recovery software. that's more realistic, if the software only costs 30-40 beans. and even if they don't, the software only costs 30-40 beans. if you went to the vic show and the entire weekend for lolla, i'm sure the software cost won't put you so far into the red that you have to file for bankruptcy.

A little intelligent foresight would have been nice. Hmmmmm, I have pictures that are priceless to me. Instead of downloading them where they will be safe, I'll take them to a show where my camera could be broken or lost.
