I remember picking this up and thinking, "what the hell is this?" in a very good way, all those years ago. PJ's greatest artistic achievement imo.

Second best for me after Ten but still an epic album. I love every song in it.

I absolutely love this record. An awesome moment in PJ history is when Nothing As It Seems was announced as the first single, many people thought it was going to be a soft record. And then when everyone expected them to play Nothing As It Seems on Letterman shortly before the start of the 2000 tour, they came out and rocked the hell out of Grievance, complete with Mike smashing his guitar at the end and Ed handing the mangled mess to Letterman as a gift. Suddenly everyone realized that their assumptions about the record were wrong. I'd link the youtube video, but it's blocked at work. One of my favorite performances by them...

So true. It was my freshmen year of college, I had a blank vhs tape (remember those things) all ready to go for Letterman, expecting Nothing as it Seems, and I remember trying really hard not to shit my pants when Matt laid into the drum intro for Grievance.

Anyone else joining me in watching touring band tonight? Not only are these songs awesome but they also play them so damn well live, such a shame they don't play them very often anymore.

I skipped school the last week of my senior year of high school to buy this. The lady that unlocked the door and let me and my buddy in the record store asked if we were there for Oops I Did It Again. I guess it was released the same day. I remember being so offended!

I can't believe it's 13 years already :o I remember I was working in a music store when it was released so we had the delivery on the Friday afternoon ready for Monday release. We pretty much blasted it in store all day Saturday and had to tell the customers they couldn't buy it until the Monday!

I've had a real rollercoaster relationship with this record. I adored it when it came out but I think I must have gone 4 or 5 years without listening to it at all at one point. It's probably because PJ started the bootleg releases for the Binaural tour. When you have 72 double cds to listen to there's not much time for the studio ones!

I still love it as an album but whenever there's a new "Rank the albums" thread it usually ends up as number 8 for me (just behind Vs but ahead of Backspacer), purely because of the quality of the other records

I have so many great, crazy memories tied to you, like selling the

Head crawling in the window... My wolf dog adopting a Pitt Bull,
And the police waking us up to tell us they were sorry to wake us up!!!
You've been a wonderful record! Think I'll listen to you on the record
player when I get home tonight!

I saw 10 shows on this tour so it will always have a special connection with me. They played the hell out of it every night. Great album.

I know Fatal and Sad didn't make the final cut, and not even sure what they would replace, but wow......

another reason to feel old! I remember not being to make it to the mall that day so my brother picked it up for me. A few days earlier my friend had brought over an illegal copy and I only listened to Breakerfall. Didn't want to ruin the rest of the surprise.

This is the last part of their peak for me. No Code, Yield, and Binaural are PJ at their best/weirdest/coolest.

This was the album that turned me OFF to Pearl Jam. Up until this point I was obsessed with the band and listened to nothing but PJ since the day I heard Ten. I was fresh out of college and was not ready for the direction the band went with this album. I stopped listening to PJ from this point on until S/T was released. Only after I grew up and matured into an adult was I ready for this album. Its now one of my favorites and can appreciate it, but at the time I couldn't stand it......

Had been listening to the band for a few years prior to this album, but this was the first album I made the effort to purchase on release day.  Then saw them live for the first time 2 weeks later.  The rest is history - Was literally life changing.

Right?! I'll always have a special place for Binaural in my heart. Came out when my wife and I started dating.

I was a late bloomer...I remember getting Binaural and RA and zipping through them both real quick (probably just listening to the first 15 seconds of each song) on the CD player to get a feel for each song and not being real impressed. That, of course, is an idiotic way to listen to a PJ album. Took me a few years but I finally figured it out.

I was still heavily into Soundgarden/STP and RATM then
