    mine was Jeremy , a few mates and I had come from the UK to house sit in LA ( Costa Mesa ) for a friend of a friend , and I got stuck with the sofa bed in the living room , we had never seen MTV before and Jeremy was on what seemed to be every 15 mins or something daft , and it changed my musical life , it blew my mind , they have been my favourite band ever since :D

    The first sont that I heard was Alive, It was so cool It stood up with all the feelings I had been feeling at the Tim. I was only was 14. Wow how time has gone bye.

    In the early 90's, I was walking down the street with a few friends and they were talking about this cassette tape they just got called ten that just came out, they listened to it and threw it into the woods, :shock: I went after it and listened to it repeatedly the whole summer. bought the CD as soon as I could, and still have both.... Alive was my first and longest lastings love.

    I kept the cassette, got rid of the friends. haha!! :lol:

    Not sure if the new version is still orange or not, but thats what I have.

    The first Pearl Jam song I heard was "Alive". I bought TEN when I was thirteen years old and listened to it nonstop for a solid few weeks. Knew the album like the back of my hand after a couple of days.

    Alive on MTV. I was 13. I bought Ten on cassette and would listen to it on my pink plastic tape player over and over. I thought Release was the greatest thing I had ever heard in my life. I still feel that way....

    The first PJ song I ever heard was ONCE. I would walk around my house at 9 years old singing "Once upon a time, I could love myslef.........Once upon a time, I could loooooooove youuuuu." I remember one time my mom heard me and had a look on her face I'll never forget as she said, "Ashley, honey, did you write that?" She thought I was some sort of prodigy! Hahaha, such great memories!

    Thank you! I have my older sister to thank for buying the TEN cassette more than once due to me stealing it from her. I would listen to that over and over.
    Oh also, I have no idea yet how to reply to things like this so I hope I did it right... if not...someone lay it out for me! :)

    Wow, ever? I've been lucky enough to grow up in Philly where the radio stations - past and present (RIP Y100) - have always played a ton of Pearl Jam. So they've been with me my entire life. I couldn't pinpoint it.

    I'd say earliest memory might be Jeremy or Small Town or Corduroy. My first real awareness of them as a band was probably around Yield when Wishlist came out. My awareness was even further heightened when Last Kiss came out and WMMR began playing it on loop for the next like 2 years. All of this was when I was under the age of 10 I guess.

    I do remember the first time I heard I Am Mine on the radio. The DJ referred to Riot Act as Pearl Jam's comeback. I'd like to ask that DJ with the benefit of hindsight where he thought Pearl Jam went that they had to come back.

    I could relate - it's kinda funny how Eddie talks about this song relating to surfing and the characters mum being alive, but I think most people just get mesmerised by actually being alive and the repetition of those words. I think this my first sing I heard and have loved ever since. Love seeing it live. Close second is black - oh so powerful. Love seeing that live too. sad though really touches me every time I hear it as does I got id.

    First song was Once. The Ten CD was played over & over again at work and I absolutely hated it at first. I couldn't relate to the rage that the songs emitted, but after a while I realized that they made me feel better about the crap that was going on in my own life.

    I would have never imagined that I’d become a die-hard fan for over 20 years, go figure.

    It was 1993 the first time I saw the video of Jeremy. I remember that Eddie's crazy look on his eyes scared the hell out of me. I was only 11. My mom happened to pass by and said: "That guy... looks like the devil". Hahaha.

    It was until 1997 that I was hooked when I got to hear Ten, the complete record I mean. I only had a copied tape of it, and would hit the Rewind button to play Once, Even Flow and Alive over and over again. Good days.
    If I knew where it was, I would take you there.

    My friend played Vitalogy for me when if first came out. I was 11 years old. We listened to the entire record, so my first song was Last Exit. It opened up a new world for me. I didn't really understand the lyrics, but the music just blew me away. I remember when my mom picked me up that evening I made her drive me to the mall so I could buy the CD and I made her listen to it all the way home. She said it was "strange and scary" :lol:

    I probably bought Ten within a week of hearing Vitalogy, and Vs. not long after. Ever since then I've bought each record on the day of release. I will never forget the first time I could actually drive myself to the record store instead of having my mom do it. Binaural. I didn't get it at first, but now it's one of my favourites.

    Each record has it's own special place in my heart. Vitalogy is the one that started it all.
